Trying out for SF after being in (Non 18x Contract) as a 68W?

33 YO Male. Speaking with my recruiter. Have to drop some lbs and get my MK/AR up. Practice ASVAB 71. Looking to join as 68W in the CA ARNG. I want to spend some time as 68W before even trying out for SF. I also need to train for a few years before even attempting to humour the idea of SF. I did the SOCOM ATHLETE 18X Challenge hosted by 19th SFG on Pendleton last year, where people who passed got LOA's on the spot, so I'm familiar with what the preliminary standards are and what I have to work on just to get my foot in the door. I failed miserably, but know what I need to improve on.

What's the route to try out for SF after being part of a unit for a few years? Do I wait for my 6 year to end my contract or is there a way to try out at like year 4-5? Thank you

Secret and TS clearance Moral Waiver (DUI)

My probation on my DUI just ended last month. After a 3 year period. I'm 33/M and I've been speaking with my recruiter as of last week for a 37F Reserve position. Took a practice ASVAB and scored a 71. Currently studying for a higher score.

I've been working with an AF recruiter for Active Duty SPECWAR, for about a year. Which im still very much interested in. Now that my probation is over I can finally take action.

However I just got a pretty solid job and now I'm thinking about reserves as an option. Does anyone have experience with getting a Secret or a TS clearance with a Moral Waiver?

With the AFSPECWAR route my recruiter said it should be no problem, it'll just take some time. However last Thursday was my 1st conversation with the Army, so I'm not sure how the Army treats Moral Waiver's for Clearance.
