Need advice on starting a matching center / ladies clothing business in a Tier-2/3 city

Hi everyone,

Is anyone here running a matching center business, mainly for ladies’ clothing like lehengas, suits, blouse pieces, dupattas, and other related items?

I am from Rajasthan, and Tier-2 city. I want to understand how this business works and what the growth potential is in a Tier-2 city.

I have a few questions:

  1. How much investment is usually required to start this business properly?
  2. What kind of profit margin do you usually keep after the buying cost?
  3. Should I focus on selling at lower prices with less margin, or keep a normal margin and focus on quality?
  4. What pricing strategy works best in this type of business?
  5. How much can a small shop realistically earn per month in the beginning?
  6. What kind of products should I keep in stock first?
  7. What are the best ways to promote this type of shop locally?
  8. and only matching center buisness will work without sarees ?

My shop will be inside the city, but slightly away from the main market, around 600–700 meters from the main market area. Will this location affect sales a lot, or can good pricing, promotion, and product variety help manage it?

Any advice from people already in this business would be very helpful. Thanks.
