macOS 26.5 is too new?

I've found MacWhisper Version 13.21.1 (1424) on macOS 26.5 to be almost completely unusable when setting speakers on a transcription. Something has changed recently where the speaker recognition is much much worse and the interface is slow, such as when trying to pause the audio playback (hitting space bar or clicking the pause icon) and selecting the speaker name within the transcript so I can change it. I'm using Parakeet v3 for local transcription.
When trying to pause, only maybe one out of every four presses of the space bar or clicks of the pause button are recognized. There is serious lag between clicking the name of a speaker and seeing the popup to select a different speaker (if it ever pops up at all... again, it seems like the clicks are not even recognized) while the audio is playing. It's a bit better if the audio is not playing, but see my previous note about the audio pausing situation.
I'm on an M1 Pro Macbook Pro with 32 GB of RAM. Resources don't seem to be a constraint (watching Activity Monitor closely). macOS 26.4 seemed OK with this version of MacWhisper, but 26.5 definitely does not.
