New owner needing help

Hello All,

I am new to owning a bearded dragon. My sister left for graduate school and I took in her bearded dragon...for context she left two years ago and left the dragon with a family member who did not take care of the fully grown dragon (not sure what to call him) the dragon lived in decay and deprived from much love or human interaction so I decided to take him in and look after him since he was so healthy and happy with my sister and I felt so bad for him since he no longer looked like the happy pet she once owned.

I bought him a pricey tank kit from petsmart and took him to the vet due to some concerns that he's beard had been black for weeks maybe months idk. The family member who was looking after him broke his original tank and had not cleaned him/ tank or anything in months...he had cuts from broken glass and looked poorly fed.

The Vet said our set up is all wrong and that he needs better UV/ heating and tank.

Could anyone give me some feedback or help to source a better lights?

I am lookimg at a 24" long UV light and maybe a hotter heating lamp bulb?

He seems happier but vet says he isn't...but vets always make you feel like you suck at owning anything

He gets a lot of outside of the tank time and actual outside time
