Dune in his growing wardrobe of clothing!

Found the most amazing beardie clothing creator on here! She paid attention to detail down to a T when designing her beardie clothes. Dune is super cute and comfy in them! Bigger belly for pancaking, large armholes for mobility and very soft nice material! She’s got hoodies that are just absolutely adorable as well. Super well handmade beardie clothes. I wanted to come on here and praise her and show you guys how cute dune is!

If you want the link to her Facebook sale page let me know and I’ll link it for you under your comment!

Dubia delivery 🚚

So I decided to try and order 100 dubias from chewy and decided to do a subscription with them every 4 weeks, since local pet shops have started to become unreliable. Not sure if it was the heat that’s killing them or what but in my town a lot of the roaches… looked dead, when I come to choose. In fact a lot of the other bugs like horn worms looked like mummified carcasses, and the superworms came in short supply where I felt like I got scammed. A container of 50 turned out to be 10.

So far my dubias arrived and they were all alive! Surprisingly there were no dead dubias. Which I expected there would be at least a couple of dead ones. So I’m hoping this keeps up. Has anyone else experienced weird things with bugs and pet shops?

Also I have to ask for beardy or reptile owners in Indiana right now. How are you fairing right now?

My beardie doesn't poop :(

I got my bearded dragon two weeks ago. She's a juvenile (8-10 months). It's been about 8 days since she last pooped and i'm worried. I'd like to avoid a vet visit since there's none close to where I live and I heard they can get quite pricey.

I gave her a warm bath but it doesn't look like it helped. She eats a bit of salad and gets a superworm everyday. She's not super active but she might still be adapting to her new home.

Is there anything I can do to help her?

Suggestions and dragon’s first day.

Picked this guy up this morning about 1030 and he was in his enclosure by about 11 or so. I did check to make sure he is alive and he doesn’t seem to be in distress, but I have left him in the bag for him to come out on his own. It’s been a few hours so I’m just double checking that I make sure I’m doing things correctly by just letting him hang out and come out when he wants.

rip dumpling♥️

my boy was 2 years old and stopped eating roughly a month before he passed. after three weeks of not eating but looking like he was going to shed i assumed he was just having a rough shed or something cuz the top of his head shed and then a week went by and i took him to the vet. his blood was light and translucent. blood test came back and vet said he had gastric neuroendocrine tumors. it was such a relief to know that i hadn’t done something wrong or missed anything because i was super anxious that i could have helped him but the vet said this doesn’t show symptoms until it’s already too late and spread. he had a beautiful last day at the beach he popped out of my jacket and crawled onto the warm sand and opened his eyes and saw the sunset it was so perfect. i loved him with my whole heart.

We had to surrender our baby girl today.

It’s been a horrible day. One of the worst in my life. We picked this girl up just 3 weeks ago. She was a classroom pet. And her care was not fantastic. My friend noticed the care crested gecko and asked me to take her in because her brother couldn’t afford the vet. Honestly we couldn’t either. She had chewed parts of her toes off trying to get stuck shed on her feet. She was living in her own filth. In a pitch black windowless basement. She also had a kinked tail (possibly a little bit of MBD) Despite it all she was so lively. I let her free roam my apartment. It’s the first time in her entire life she’s ever gotten to experience that. She ran around sniffing everything. Would eat whatever leaf I shoved in her face. I would sit with her on the floor and play games on my laptop. She would fly out of her enclosure, onto my lap and lick whatever interested her on the screen. It was love at first sight. I thought this would be her forever home.

We got her to her first vet appointment. He agreed that she looked lively and prescribed her some oral antibiotics and told me to bathe her daily for 30 minutes at a time. Advice I knew I shouldn’t have followed. But I was stupid to assume the vet knew best. After 1 week, she started to develop symptoms of a URI. I was terrified and got her into the emergency vet at a different clinic the next day. Although I was there for her URI, he was more concerned about her feet. He prescribed me an injection antibiotic to help with her foot and he assured me that it should clear up her URI. He also handed me a bill for $700 worth of other stuff he wanted to do and we talked through it and I really just wanted to focus on her URI for now. The vet assistants injected her and walked me through it and then sent me home. Oh and they also gave me a place to call for pain meds but told me it was optional.

After we got home her condition deteriorated fast. Be it that they pricked her nerve wrong or just made light of the pain and injection can cause, she was not doing well.. by the time I noticed she was impaired she had made her first fall.. I had completely cleared out her enclosure after that but it was too late. She landed wrong on her neck and her spine was contorted into a C shape. I was devastated. She went from being a sick little girl to nearly paralyzed in 24 hours.. It was hard to watch her. Devastating.. I sobbed all day. My fiancé did the best he could to help care for her. It was all hands on deck till her next vet appointment. I was hoping to hear good news. Like she was just impacted from not pooping for a while, or it’s just a pain response but he literally couldn’t help. He didn’t know exactly what was wrong with her.. and he referred me to a different vet. Despite being the best reptile vet in town, that vet no longer works in an exotic clinic. I already was fed up with how the exotic vets in town were. Giving me poor advice, not giving me all the side effects for her medications, having horrible husbandry recommendations. All of it. Horrible.

I knew she needed help. Big time. And ASAP. As soon as it was clear no good vets in the area could see her within the next 24 hours. So I decided to call around to find a rehab facility that had room for her. We drove her the 3 hours there. She flinched at every bump. Despite her pain, I brought her iPad for her so she could watch tv. She loves watching TV. She’d go to the far end of her enclosure so that she could see into the living room to watch. When I put it on she sat up. And looked over her shoulder to watch it. She’s still Mako after all. Despite her lethargic and pain, she’s still my baby girl..

I handed her off to the herpetological society in Chicago. An older man scooped her up, put his nose to hers, playfully told her he was going to fight with her if she doesn’t take her medicine. I know she’s in good hands. He told me about all the bugs she was going to get to eat. And how she’s going to see a great vet. And as much as I’ll miss her and as much as I’m still heartbroken. I knew we did the right thing.

I’m so upset. I feel so defeated. I did everything I could to save her.. but it’s like everything horrible that could’ve possibly happened to her did. I poured my soul into caring for her. Im in between work.. so for the past 3 weeks she’s never left my sight. I laid on the floor in a sleeping bag with her.. I woke up early because I was excited to get to see her.. she means the world to me. And I feel broken without her. I love my crested gecko. But she’s skittish and I don’t like to push handling because I know it just stresses her out.. now I have a mako sized hole in my heart.. and an empty enclosure. I don’t know if I could take another bearded dragon again.. I’m afraid I’ll just want them to be like mako and they won’t be. And if they got sick I wouldn’t have anywhere to take them.. hell im terrified now the if my cresty gets sick I have nowhere to go..

This is a picture of my beautiful girl.. happy and healthy.. as healthy as I got to know her at lea

Please help any advice is appreciated 🧡

This is for a friend they Got him about a week ago! He is from an awful place they’re not at fault of his condition and are trying the absolute best they can 🧡

he has a vet appointment booked next week, he got dumped on me very very last minute from an awful environment with no adequate care, Our main focus is getting him to eat and to gain more movement back in his back legs - he has improved in all areas already (he is not paralysed) however I have a feeling he has mites because of these reddish/orange marks all over him. Can’t see mites or anything coming off him when he’s bathed. He gets bathed and often with diluted betadine, he’s got the correct uvb, temps, humidity and calcium’s/vitamins now as well. Thank you!

Desperate Itchy Man Invents Full-body Self-scritch

My handsome man best boy is shedding and has figured out that if he shoves himself into this crack in his fake rock background he can do a little shimmy and scratch everything everywhere all at once. It's very cute.

Help with bearded dragon tank setup

I’m setting up my first bearded dragon enclosure and I’m having trouble getting the basking spot hot enough.

In the picture, I have the basking rock sitting on on one bricks and it was at 79°f. later i added two more bricks, so there were three bricks supporting the rock, but I’m still only getting around 82°F on the basking surface.

The rock is about 12 inches away from the heat lamp, which I thought was the safest distance. I’m wondering if the problem is the the rock itself, or possibly the heat lamp/fixture.

I’m using a 100W Repti Basking Spot Lamp with a deep-dome heat lamp fixture.

Does anyone have experience with this setup or know what I should change to get the basking surface closer to the proper temperature? I want to make sure I get the enclosure set up correctly before putting my bearded dragon in it.

Any ideas for a more secure way to raise my linear UVB?

This is my beardy Willow! I was recently gifted a much larger tank for her (18inch wide by nearly 4ft long but its about half an inch shorter than her current tank so I will need to have the UVB raised). Right now I have it balanced on emptied bushes baked beans cans and its not very secure and the new tank has a sliding top so I dont want it constantly falling. (BTW I am still saving up for an enclosure thats the standard 4x2x2! The fact that I have to order online because no where near me carries them and tariffs increasing the price is making it take a couple more months than I was hoping but she will not be in a tank thats too small forever).

Looking for advice on my beardie. Potential respiratory infection or just a drama queen?

So we got our Mushu in May, at which point he was roughly 4 months old, making him 8 months old now.
In June, he had an episode which frankly terrified us… he was fast asleep on my chest (we take him out for a cuddle most evenings) then he woke up rasping and appeared to be choking. He was rolling his head around ‘coughing’ and not visibly breathing. We thought we had lost him at various points because he’d appear to ‘give up’, close his eyes, rest his head and was unresponsive. We attempted to clear his airways but couldn’t see anything visibly stuck, and he hadn’t eaten for 5 hours by this point. We followed all the advice and tilted his head downwards to see if there was anything, and encourage it to naturally fall down.
Nothing seemed to be working and this went on for a couple of hours, while we arranged an emergency vet visit and drove over. By the time we got to the vet, he had stopped choking, and suddenly perked up. The vet said his lungs and heart beat were healthy, so were his behaviours. We talked through husbandry and they said all seemed good. They couldn’t see anything in his airways either. They actually said if we hadn’t described what had happened they would have said he’s the epitome of health…
We are so relieved he is okay, but slightly on edge and hyper aware of small changes in behaviour all the time since we don’t know what caused this.

This didn’t happen again until the other day when he woke up from a sleep again and rasped once, then stopped- no long episode this time. But I stayed up all night with him to watch him.

He doesn’t show any other signs of respiratory problems, no clicking or mucus, he’s very energetic and sociable, eats well etc. But every time I hear a noise and he’s near by I panic now!!!

Has anybody seen anything like this before? Should I be worried or is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again?

I’m a newbie in the reptile thing

I’m thinking about getting a beard dragon, but before I’m actually getting anything I’m of course reading up on what it needs and requires, but there’s two things that confuse me when reading about keeping bearded dragons.

1 the substrate, some places say to have a sand or dirt in the bottom of the enclosure, while others place say never to use sand and instead use carpet or paper towels?

2 the hydration situation seems to be conflicting, some say that there should be a water bowl in the terrarium, which in my head makes sense that there should be water available. But then some other places say its dangerous to keep water bowls in the dragons terrarium.

Its a little confusing to figure stuff out when there are conflicting information about how to keep the dragon

Bearded dragon in corner?

Are they ok? They’ve been there for a day or so (he may of moved but I haven’t seen him move atleast) he’s been shedding of that helps with finding out what the problem is. Dont mind the mess in his tank were clearing it out today.

Dehydration?

I like to say we "rescued" this beardie from a Facebook post. Someone was giving it away for free, and a few people we knew commenting, we knew wouldn't take care of it properly. So my husband and I stepped up and took it and are now learning as we go! We did a TON of research yesterday before we picked him up but we are still obviously very new to this so we have questions. We've had him a full 24 hours and I haven't seen him drink a sip of water. Does he look dehydrated? Tips on getting him to drink?

Adding- tomorrow we are setting him up a better basking area.

Should I move him to a larger tank?

When I got him, the people at the reptile store told me that I should move him to a smaller tank so he could find food easier, but most other sources tell me to move him to a larger one. I'm having issues with making sure he has a cold side, and I'm a bit worried about the glass surfing. Should I move him?

And to explain why there is reptile carpet, he apparently had an issue where he was trying to eat the sand while they were taking care of him, so they suggested carpet for the time being until he matures some more.

Were they just giving me false info? Or should I listen to them?
