My son (12m) will only eat off a fork that I’m holding

I’ve been doing baby led weaning since 6 months, but he’s never really been good at it. Finally, I was pretty concerned that he wasn’t eating enough solids about 2 months ago so I started tearing everything into small pieces and hand feeding him until he would “realize” he’s hungry and start feeding himself. That worked for a while but now he just feeds everything to the dogs immediately. The only way he will significantly eat now is if I put small bites in his mouth off the tip of a fork.

He’s growing fine. Still breastfeeding a lot, although we don’t nurse within an hour of mealtime. He does not have any teeth yet.

I want to get him back to eating independently - I have some toddler forks but can’t bring myself to give spiky metal to a 12 month old.

Kind of feeling like we are regressing. What do I do?
