First road trip with Kylaq Signature AT

I have driven my car close to 14K kms currently. Went on my first road trip to Shinku La pass in Himachal Pradesh last week.

Planned the trip abruptly due to a sad break-up of my 12 year relationship. Drove close to 2000 kms in the span of 6 days.

I have been on similar road trips with 6 different cars before Kylaq - used to go to Himachal every year regularly before covid:

2016 (2007 Verna Diesel Manual)
2017 (2016 Brezza Diesel Manual)
2018 (2012 Audi A4 Diesel Auto)
2019 (2011 Endeavour Diesel Manual)
2024 (2022 Fortuner Diesel Auto)
2025 (2023 Creta NA Petrol Manual)

And 2026 (2025 Kylaq Sig AT)

I can confidently say in terms of driving pleasure and comfort - this journey was second to none. The engine, steering and suspension tuning of Kylaq is one of the best I have ever experienced in a sub 15L car. Its definitely in the same league, arguably better than some of the more expensive/luxury cars I have had the good fortune of driving long term.

Audi A4 obviously had better comfort but on unpredictable mountain roads it came at the cost of perpetual paranoia of scratching or damaging the car.

I can’t recall enjoying any of my earlier road trips to Himachal this much. Primarily for 2 reasons - the road quality has progressively gotten better on each trip over the years, Kylaq is a very enjoyable car to drive on long journeys. Zero exhaustion after 14 hours of non-stop driving (apart from chai and su**u breaks).

I wanted to do a long term review but some other day maybe.

Pro Tips:

  1. If you are an unneutered Male under the age of 35, the only way to drive this car is in Sports mode with traction control off. ;) [DRIVE SAFE]

  2. Learn to use the kickdown switch if you have an AT, super useful on highways and expressways.

Feel free to shoot if you have any questions/queries.
