Levofloxacin for E. faecalis and E. Coli
I have a stubborn UTI that will not go away. At the end of April, a urinary lab culture found that I had E. coli in my urine. I took nitrofurantoin for a week. A couple weeks later I noticed I still had discomfort. I went to an urgent care and they noticed in the dipstick urinary test signs of bacterial infection. They were unable to run a culture, but based on my previous lab culture, they gave me Cephalexin 500 mg 10 days.
About a month later I went to my primary care doctor because I was still experiencing discomfort. They ran another culture and they let me know yesterday (2.5 weeks later) that it came back positive for E. coli and enterococcus faecalis. The doctor prescribed me levofloxacin 250mg for 3 days. I feel so much anxiety and fear of getting floxed.
I called my urologist and they told me they could schedule me a week from tomorrow. Should I wait and not take the levofloxacin until I get that second opinion? Idk what to do :( I just feel so tired of going through this.
