I was discussing with a friend of mine who is a big fan of the anime, I am not but I’ve seen seasons 1 and 2 and he has seen everything until now.
The subject of the discussion was about how I brought the fact that the witch of Envy and Emilia are stated to look alike back when there was only season 1, and that I hypothesized that she was the witch of Envy and that her Ice powers were either some variation of her true power (time related power), or a placeholder for her real power (time related power again).
This was my first theory, after that he told me about Al and that he too had time looping abilities, so I half jokingly said that it was maybe another Subaru, but then recently, he told me about Subaru’s arm mutating into a dragon arm because of the blood of Capella; and that made me think about the Dragon that Rosswald wanted to kill and also about the story of Satella and her knight which happens centuries before the main story and about the ancestor of the marchant purple haired girl in Isekai Quartet recognizing Subaru.
All that made me think of a big theory which I’ll call the « multiple Subaru theory », this theory goes as follows :
Everyone may be familiar with time loop story, ground hog day, etc. Well, what if it was the same not just for Main Subaru (MS) but possibly an infinite amount, or at least four (the Knight Subaru, Al, and the dragon). Maybe that what is happening in the story is that a Subaru is summoned, lives a life with Emilia/Satella and something terrible happens which lead to Emilia/Satella to bring back in time both herself and her Subaru centuries prior. Satella being a witch couldn’t age (possibly) and Subaru a human would die (in my mind this would be knight Subaru of the painting). The time moving foreward a new Emilia would be born, so there is two Emilia in the timeline, one of which is Satella and she would summon another Subaru. This time, in my mind it would be the dragon, the events happening, Subaru would receive dragon blood and mutate and Satella from timeline 1 or Emilia from timeline 2 would again go back in time creating Dragon Subaru. And again again creating Al and possibly other characters (in the timelines where Subaru died of old age, which is why I said possibly infinite Subaru’s). Bring it to the last time, the one we’re following, where Al wants to stop Emilia from receiving her full powers and thus breaking the loop.
This was a theory from a simple watcher of season 1 and 2 I’ve heard some things about the LN and anime but haven’t read it or finished the anime and I didn’t do any research to know if someone said something similar to my theory. Also English isn’t my first language so please excuse any confusion in my wording and I can answer any questions
