Quick question about beatmatching ,I'm mixing on vinyl.

When you're beatmatching the second track (what you hear in your headphones), should you always aim to land the kick on the "1" of a starting phrase? Or is it fine to line up on any first beat within that phrase, (for beatmatching purposes to find the right bpm, not sending in the mix)

after finding the right bpm :

should I still try to hit the "1" of a starting phrase specifically, or is matching on any beat within the phrase good enough

is that the way that we should do it ?

I would appreciate, if you could write how do you beatmatch, the whole process from beatmatching to sending in the track in the mix. It would really help, thanks !
