How do you climb on Support solo queue?

The age old question, I know. I just wanted to ask specific to me. This is my first hero shooter, I mainly played FPS before.

  • My past seasons peaks in order have been S3 (S1), D3 (s2), GM3 (s3), GM3 (s4), C3 (s5), C3, (s6), GM1 (s7), GM2 (s8).
  • Currently I'm Diamond 3, after hitting GM2. But I'm a support main, so it's so hard to climb. I can pour my heals into people, but I, myself, can only do so much. My skill on DPS is Gold level and my skill on Tanking is Plat level.
  • I play in scrims with users who are Cel-OAA, but every time a team has me, I lose. I'm definitely not Cel+ material yet. I average GM rank and I'm the lowest there. I enjoy being coached mid-game but don't want to spend for it. Scrims are my opportunity to learn, I don't know what else I haven't noticed that I'm missing.
  • When scrimming, I notice higher ranks comm a LOT (Enemy CDs, Ult Ending, Ult Planning, Healer LOS) so I try that, but it's not enough. My positioning isn't the best but it sustains me in Diamond rank and up to at least GM2 well, but I still try to improve. It helps, but not enough to climb.
  • I used to be GM level skill, now I can't hold GM. I've been lucky to hit C3 but I don't think I'm C3 skill yet. I've played consistently, at least a few hours day until my skill depletes (I'm a college kid on break lol). I maintain level headedness, I'm not much of a rager, so no throwing.

I want to do what I can as a support and learn, but I feel so limited. Any ideas how to climb as a support? This season seems much harder and I feel at a loss.
