Self driving embarrassment
UPDATE: went back to the Tesla dealership where I bought it. They buffed out the scratches and had me make a service appointment for next week to check the self driving.

Got my 2026 Tesla Y premium yesterday at 4pm. Today at 6pm I’m picking up takeout and when I’m leaving the restaurant I thought I’d let the car drive me home since it’s only 2 miles through the neighborhood. Easy test.
Welp backing out the self drive knocked over two parked bicycles and now the door is scratched up🫠 first time using it and instant collision like in 3 seconds.
The entire restaurant patio saw. Mortifying! (Atlanta)
The two women whose expensive Edison ebikes the car knocked around were very nice about it though.
So when is self driving best to use because my first attempt was an embarrassing failure. The bikes we parked against a fence next to the drivers side.
First time Tesla owner — I bought the car for the self driving feature so would appreciate insight into why this might have happened.
