I had a 1G cable modem connection with four eero 6+ units throughout my house. My office is in lower-level corner and it's a big house. I had one eero 6+ connected via ethernet to my cable modem, one near my lower-level home theater system, one in my upstairs kitchen, and one in an upstairs bedroom, all via WiFi.
I had great coverage throughout the house - constant 500-600 speed.
Recently, I upgraded to the T-Mobile 2Gb Fiber plan, which included an eero 7 Pro. I plugged the eero 6+ into the fiber modem and kept everything else the same. The connections were all fast, but I noticed that IP addresses were on different networks, depending upon which eero the device got their address from. Also, the printer in my office wouldn't work because it kept getting an IP address from the eero 6+, which was from a different network.
I ended up switching the eero 6+ to bridge mode, and the printer worked, as did everything else, all with proper IP addresses. However, the speed is slower - about 200-300 speed.
Would I be better off switching to all eero 7 units? My wife and I work from home, we stream, have multiple 4K TVs, and lots of devices, like smart switches, phones, etc.
Any suggestions? Thanks!!
Jim
