Need advice!!
Hey! Before I start, this is very important to my issue: I'm 17F and about to go into my last year of high school.
Okay so a few years back, my mom got me into therapy and after my little brother was diagnosed with ADHD and a few other mental disorders, she had me tested for ADHD. At the time, I was in middle school and was naive, so I had believed from what some of my friends had said that having a mental disorder was something to be ashamed of, which led me to lie on the test and in turn not getting diagnosed for anything.
My mom repeatedly says that she thinks I have ADHD due to some of my behaviors and the fact that it runs in my family. I've brought up getting retested subtly a few times, but I'm not sure if my mom would do it because every time I bring it up she brings up the first test and mentions how expensive it is-which it is super duper expensive where I live and while my mom has a really good, stable job, it's still a large amount of money to pull out.
I really want to get retested for ADHD as well as tested for some other disorders as I've realized that some of my behaviors and thoughts are symptoms for some other things (I've done light research through credible sources like Mayo Clinic). BUT, I'm scared to ask my mom to get tested. So my question is: should I push for her to get me tested for what I think I have or wait until after I've graduated where I'll be a legal adult and pay for my own test?
