WIBTAH if I tell the neighbors I don't want to help with their lost pet?

I have neighbors that I haven't really met and their cat got out and ran in the general direction of my house. They've been looking for days and asked if they could look under our deck and trees. (We have a fenced in yard.) I said yes and that I'll also keep an eye out too. They came back again asked if they could put a couple traps in my backyard. I felt bad cause they obviously are worried about their pet and said yes.

But now it's been a couple days. I'm worried about some other animals getting into the traps that would have to be dealt with. And it's been alternating with rain and heat and I don't want their soggy blankets to get muggy and stink up the place. And I'm not a fan of these guys frequenting my yard to check. Or not check cause I haven't seen them, but could have just but noticed? But so I'm spending time checking cause I dont want an animal trapped back here.

I really do hope they find their pet, but I don't want these traps and blankets and food in my yard as a standard until that happens. WIBTAH if I tell them, sorry, but your base of operations can't be my yard anymore? I don't want to be a dick, but there's gotta be an acceptable time limit for extending this kind of favor.
