So I was ordering a small item ($31.99) as a regular Prime user. As I reached checkout, a banner across the top of the screen offered a $180 Amazon Gift Card + the product free if I accepted an Amazon Prime Credit Card. I have a good credit rating, so I figured "why not" and agreed.

Amazon tried to pre-qualify me with Trans-Union and asked me to unfreeze my credit. I did so, and Amazon acknowledged it. This just took a minute or two.

Then Chase Bank had to qualify me. Of course, they didn't use the same agency. (It's not clear why two mega-corporations couldn't agree on the same agency.) Chase wanted to use Experian. Of course they only process unfreeze transactions overnight. So I waited until the next day to complete the order.

When I got the email confirming that the unfreeze had taken place, I returned to complete the order, But now the web page had changed and the offer included a $60 gift + the product free. Customer service was unhelpful.

This is a classic Bait and Switch. I wish I had taken screen shots with time/date stamps.
