Expensive Restaurant
I've been talking to a guy, and he said he wanted to take me out to a barbeque restaurant he likes. Price wise, the bill probably would have been comparable to a date at a chain like Red Lobster or Texas Roadhouse. But when we got there, they were sold out of a lot of their meats for the day. The only meat they had left was chicken, I said that was fine, he wanted beef so we left.
In the same shopping area, there was one of those millennial burger joints. A little cheaper than the barbeque place would have been. There was also a Chama Gaucha.
He had never eaten at CG, but I did tell him that I liked eating there and they had unlimited steak. I also told him that CG is at a higher price point and that it was going to run about $125 per person, but if he wanted to try it, we could split the bill. Or we could just grab a burger. I was fine either way.
We ended up going to CG but he insisted on paying and then after kind of got a little prickly with me over text saying not to try to pay for stuff when he was taking me out.
In my mind, he probably would have paid $80-100 bucks for our dinner at the original restaurant and there's just a big difference between that and the $250 it costs for two people to eat at CG.
To me, a $250 bill is steep for a first real date sort of situation.
Am I wrong?
