Head gasket failure or something simpler?

Audi Q3 2.0 diesel 2014 plate 120k miles. FSH, 2 x belt and water pump changes done as per service schedule.

3 weeks ago had warning light for low coolant. Topped up 500ml and same again a week later. Phoned the garage but couldn't be seen until a week later so put in 1/4 bottle of Radweld. No further drop in coolant level since.

Garage said oil level high and no obvious external coolant leak so probably the head gasket going and suggested getting rid sooner rather than later. Queue lots of panic and evenings spent scrolling for a new car.

The car runs fine. No white smoke. No oil cap mayo. Could the high oil level just be failed DPF regeneration cycles? When I bought the car I was doing a lot of motorway driving but now only being used short distances.

Not sure how to proceed at this point. Is there a way of knowing if the head gasket is about to go? There's been no engine warning lights or overheating etc. It probably is time to trade for a petrol or electric but would rather take my time than rush but obviously dont want to be risk being left with no car.
