Should I consider Carnegie Mellon or not for undergrad?
hi! I am a current junior (from the UK) and want to major in something like biotech with computational biology. I know that CMU is renowned for computational biology and SCS but I had a few reservations. 1. Though I would not say I am a hardcore party goer, even by my standards the social life at CMU seems dead from what I have heard. 2. I eventually want to do an MBA and work in a company deploying medical tech/ corporate work rather than theoretical biology or computational work; Seems like CMU is very technical and with no disrespect, a very "nerdy" atmosphere perhaps less known for business pipelines and networking in business? 3. Location-wise I would prefer something more suburban.
As an international I know that I should prioritise technical work for job placements and visa etc. and CMU would be a great way to get on this path, but I am worried the "philosophy" of this school may not align with me. Would be very grateful for anyone's thoughts, opinions, and experiences!
