Cut-out handles: more pros or more cons?

I’ve seen pens like this online, but I’m curious to hear from people with real-world experience whether these pens are more of a pro or a con.

I tried rendering one, it looks nice and neat, and I kind of want one, but I’m still skeptical.

How do you usually use pocket notebooks?

I bought a really nice pocket book, but now I don't know, what to use it for.

For lists I fave a special pad, and I'm used to make notes on my app. Maybe this is a sign for me to make them real.

So what do you guys use pocket books for?
