I just got over a bout of BV, and decided to try out a boric acid capsule after sex to ward off a semen-inflicted pH imbalance. I waited 'til bedtime, popped it in (not super shallow, gave it a little push up there), and went to sleep. I sleep on my stomach, and don't roll around or anything.

When I woke up, there was a HUGE wet patch on the bed (discharge, I assume), little white grains all up in my labia folds and little spots of blood(!) from where friction/chemical burns(?) took their toll, and my whole everything is so itchy! It feels like my last yeast infection!

My vaginal pH this morning was on the high side, but now is back in the normal range (I use those little test strips). I'm thinking maybe for people who sleep on their back their discharge doesn't spread little particles of boric acid everywhere? I feel silly for not thinking about the physics of it all. Has this happened to anyone else?

I went to the urgent care a few days ago as I was having some weird cramping/watery pink discharge and diarrhea. They did a urine sample and a vaginal swab, but only were able to test the urine that same day. They started me on Cephalexin for what appeared to be a UTI.

Today they called back with the vaginal swab labs and said I have BV and they're starting me on a new medication. What confuses me is they said I actually don't have a UTI and can stop taking that antibiotic, although it has provided me some relief (no more cramping).

I feel it's not so hard to believe that I have BV and a UTI. I plan to keep taking the antibiotics (isn't it a bad idea to stop in the middle of a course?)

Interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience.
