AIW for wanting to break up with my boyfriend because he’s got a family?
My boyfriend already has an ex wife and a kid he’s committed to, and even takes care of the ex wife’s fiancé. He considers his ex wife his best friend. He’s the only one that works. He spends most of his time with them. They plan to move states sometime in the future, whether I join or not.
I’m going to be applying to PhD programs that might require me to move and he made it clear that he’s moving where his family wants to go. When I told him how I was feeling about not being able to be his top priority (which, I know he has a kid and I would always expect them to be the #1 priority. I mean the rest of the family) he made it clear that his family would always be his priority and if I needed more I would be disappointed.
I know the answer is that I should probably break up with him. Am I ridiculous in wanting more from a partner?
