I'm attending a relative's wedding early next year. They and their fiancee are primarily asking for monetary gifts on the registry, but I'm not sure what amount/range is appropriate.

Some factors:

1. I'm in the extended family

2. I am only invited to the reception, not the ceremony (the ceremony is immediate family only)

3. I'm bringing a guest but it is my long term partner who was included as a guest on the invitation rather than as a +1

4. No I don't know how much they're spending per guest

Planning to take a loved one to the Melting Pot for their birthday about a month from now. We love getting the salads there, but wondering if it'd be best to just skip the salad course this year.
