Career Advice: LatAm PE
Hey guys,
New to the sub and couldn’t find many related threads.
I’m currently an investment analyst at a regional mid-market PE fund based in Argentina.
For those familiar with LatAm private equity, what is your current view on the industry’s long-term career outlook? Do you think a top US MBA is a valid path to continue growing in PE / private capital, either in LatAm or internationally, or would it be more practical to try to lateral to a larger regional platform?
One concern I have is that the long-term compensation / carry path in smaller regional funds can be unclear, so I’m trying to better understand how people in the industry think about the risk-reward of staying in LatAm PE versus pursuing an MBA, moving to a larger platform or even jumping to corp dev.
