Sunday night at 2 am I woke up from severe stomach pain, even worse nausea. Pain was on the belly button area and only slightly toward the right of there. Spent several hours in the bathroom expecting to vomit. Had bad chills, sensitive skin/body ache and low grade fever, was freezing though. Didn't sleep till 6 in the morning. Slept for a couple hours then at 1 pm I went to the ER. I'm a 22 year old female. They did bloodwork, urine test, CT. Bloodwork showed high neutrophils at 75.3%, low lymphocytes at 18%, high CRP at 1.342 mg/Dl, and high lipase of 129 U/L. Urine sample clear and CT with contrast clear. At the ER they gave me an IV with paracetamol, zofran, and anti spasmodic. Felt a bit better. Once they saw the CT was clear (non surgical) they said I should just make an appointment with a gastroenterologist. Right now it's 8:30 pm on Monday so roughly 42 hours since all this started. Over the last 24 hours the pain had moved specifically over the area of my appendix (lower right). Pain is worse when I walk, take deep breaths, or eat. Bad nausea is back. I've had no diarrhea or gas. I do however sometimes feel like I need to use the bathroom and end up not needing to. I read that's typical with appendicitis. I also read that a CT at 12 hours after symptoms might be too early to show the inflammation of appendix. I'm not sure whether to just go back to the ER tonight or not because I heard that the rupture can come on super suddenly (in a few hours it would be 48 hours since all this started) and makes things much more complicated. Or should I just wait till my gastroenterologist appointment later in the week? . I am not a health freak in the sense that I'm always worried but I just felt like they didn't take it seriously enough and were quite non-chalant considering the red flags on my bloodwork. Anyways, any tips or guidance or past experiences would be appreciated.
