Whalefall - intriguing

I have just finished this book, I don't know anyone else in person who has read it and I'd really like to discuss it.

Has anyone finished it, what did you think?

UK - lake side wood fired sauna - start up - growth advice needed

A good friend and I have started a lake side, wood fired sauna.

We have been trading <4 weeks and have secured good support. We have had 150 bookings (each booking can contain more than 1 seat) and have taken over £4,000 in revenue.

We sit at around 50% capacity on the sessions we've run, but have had to cancel some sessions/whole days where we've had zero bookings.

We have leaflet dropped local towns/villages.

We have a growing social media presence with 1,500+ followers and 100,000+ views in the last 30 days.

What are the next steps we can do to increase bookings? We have yet to pay for advertising other than the leaflets.

Visitors sites

I am off to France/Belgium/The Netherlands this summer.

Is there a Europe wide directory of historical sites and/or museums that I could view?

I would love to visit a few places whilst away and seeing them on a map would really help with planning.

Cheers

Touring With kids (4 & 7)

Hi folks,

My wife and I loosely have ideas that we would like to tour again. We don't have a huge amount of experience having previously done 10/11 days through the Netherlands.

However, we are keen to do it again, but the major change would be having kids in tow.

We are based in Dorset (UK), which is moderately hilly and to my knowledge doesn't have a huge traffic free network. So with this in mind we are quite keen to travel elsewhere.

Both kids can cycle independently, our 7 year old rides a geared bike and our 4 year old is just about to get a new 14inch bike (single speed).

We would really value some input from those who have done this before in a few things:

- suggested routes, we are naturally drawn to the Netherlands, but would also be open to some of the other Velo routes of Europe. We could drive over to the continent and park up if the route was circular?

- equipment. My wife and I already have touring bikes, but are in the market for new panniers (for us and the kids). We also only have a 3 person tent, so are actively looking for a new one.

- day-to-day logistics with kids. Do people still tow? I have a gator bar for my youngest, I'm not sure how well it'll work with a top bag though.
How far to people tend to plan per day? I appreciate that is quite a "how long is a piece of string question".

Any and all advice welcomed!

4person family lightweight tent

We are a family of 4. 2 adults + 2 children (7+4).

Both kids cycle independently and we are keen to do some cycle touring.

My wife and I have an old 2 person lightweight tent that we've used in previous tours.

Can we get some suggestions for tents to fit all 4 of us?

We would prefer a single tent rather than 2x2.

<£300 and from a Uk supplier (or easy to ship to UK)

Cheers!

Tour De France

Hi folks,

I keep getting snippets of the TdF on my social feeds and it is frankly making me feel rather sad that the highlights on ITV don't exist anymore.

I've tried C5s highlights, and whilst yes they do show the highlights, the presenting was poor and the commentary was miserable.

I've listened to (and watched) "For the love of cycling" podcast, which has much of the old style chat (a little less polished) but obviously none of the footage.

Is there anything, from anywhere in the rest of the English speaking world that is similar to the ITV TdF highlights? I'm looking for some bike chat, Tour history, pro insight etc?

Cheers,

G
