Wanting to lose wight with a physical disability?
Hi, I'm needing some advise on what to do. As the title says, i'm looking to try and lose weight with a physical disability without resorting to ozempic because folks with diabetes actually need those shots, i dont. (though my doctor was very adamant it was my only option..).
I'm currently sitting at around a fluctuating 272, and I feel im relatively active, or as active as i can be. I work as a chef/line cook, so im on my feet every day, running orders etc, but when i get home, i am pretty much constantly asleep because of pain or just exhaustion.
My disability is rather severe height loss in my lower spine, a physical injury in my upper back caused by an inexperienced chiropractor (suggested by a doctor for my back problems), and some rather nasty hip muscle problems that nobody can pinpoint. (Likely hypermobility that just isnt seen due to my weight)
I dont want a quick fix. Nor do i really wanna drop down to be super skinny. I just wanna drop to abt 200, maybe 190. Frankly, whatever it takes to stop seeing the number of kilos on the scale that i see.
My eating habits are all over the place. Most days i dont eat breakfast or lunch, not usually eating until around 2 or 3 pm when im getting off work, then i'll snack here and there. I dont really binge as much as i used to. But i do eat what i believe is pretty high calorie foods? I cant say for sure since i cook most of my stuff from scratch, but things like stews, chowders, casseroles, enchiladas.
Recently ive been put on a meal plan through my nutritionist to try and help as i used to tend to binge on food when i was worried i wouldnt have enough (i couldnt say for certain why i did that instead of hoarding food but yk), but im not seeing anything other than me slowly running out of room in my fridge and freezer.
I dont wanna have to resort to the meds, because i know its only short term, it holds up the price for what the drugs are originally for, and causes problems, and i also wouldnt want to feed into any possibly developing disorders by doing that, but im not really sure what i *can* do for exercise that doesnt absolutely murder my bad and feeling i took 15 bullets to the spine.
Any advice is more than welcome. I'll try not to be overly critical or shoot stuff down, but i have tried quite a bit to find what i can do, but the things that work for others, i cant seem to do.
