My mother and I have been sharing her ND. She lives up North, and I live down South.
The last time I had the car, I had trouble with it overheating. I may or may not have a lead foot, so when the first shop couldn't figure out what was wrong with it, I chalked it up to my driving. But then it happened again, and the second shop was also stumped.
Mom has had the car for the better part of the year, and has had no issues with it. It is notable that she does not drive it as frequently as I do, as she has an AWD vehicle she uses during their long, messy, winters.
A few weeks ago, I flew up to get it. I drove it home from New England (over 800 miles) without any issues, being more mindful of speed and driving than usual, and watching the gauges.
I had no problems until the other day (Saturday) when I drove up to "town," which takes about 45 minutes on the highway. At some point that day during city traffic it started overheating, and I had to shut it off at traffic lights until I could park it safely. A few hours later, and it was fine again.
On Sunday, I drove it the same distance as Saturday and had no issues.
Then, yesterday, I drove it a couple of hours on highway, then with some city miles. It would not cool down, so I ran the codes on my BlueDriver, which came up with (yet another) P111A. I had it towed to the Mazda dealership.
Every mechanic (at least three) says they have gone through it with a fine-toothed comb, but they can't figure out anything wrong with it and can't recreate the problem. This is getting super frustrating.
Has anyone here had the same experience with this mysterious overheating problem?
