what is the true problem that we are trying to solve with dumbphones
i just watched this video and i felt like sharing it here, because they call out dumbphone users for using technology to solve a technological problem (its a lot more nuanced than that, pls watch the video first). But it really got me thinking. I still use a "dumbified" smartphone because i cant afford to buy a new one and i REALLY need certain apps and most (true) dumbphones dont offer that. for that reason i've been concidering the jelly star for a really long time now and i have been thinking about how it could impact my daily life. But honestly, when im about to do the dishes for example every fiber in my body wants to put on a podcast or watch a youtube video and a small screen might stop me from time to time, but its not really getting rid if that itch. And i think thats what this video is trying to get at. I still think that dumbphones have a lot of value, because modern tech is made to be as addictive as possible. Thats just a fact and dumbphones can help to reduce that, but its not really solving the real problem. The video poses that we as a culture hve lost a sense of purpose outside of tech. its sound super cliche but we need find purpose out in the real world too. I'd love to hear what you guys think nd hopefully this video brings you some new insight to try and break free from this technopoly!
