Crazy how you can be here one day making plans for tomorrow a tomorrow that was never promised, but yet there is so much emphasis on tomorrow, “see you tomorrow” “i will do it tomorrow”. But, think about it who promised you a tomorrow? No one. then why do we leave tasks for later even when that “later” was never guaranteed.

I randomly thought of this because my one of my neighbours they used to be three brothers and one mother. The eldest brother passed away last year in November and it was a big shock because he was a good guy, i mean he was good to us but people had beef with him but with our family he was always good.

So their mother passed away today and this thought crossed my mind.

Like everyone you had a family, had fights, arguments, shared laughs and spent good time. Everything was going good, there were ups and downs but that’s a part of life.

Then after eid a long weekend comes up and your family decides to go for an outing like a picnic for a day, but you refuse because you had an important exam coming up. So they go without you.

Later that evening you receive a phone call and two cops showing up at your doorstep and they say “ we are sorry to inform you they died in a car crash”

Before you can figure out what happened a week has passed their funerals have been done.

You have nothing left, you are a breathing but dead inside. You try and get back to your normal life. You keep yourself busy all day but when you get back home it’s empty no one to talk to. It’s no longer a home, you just live there because you have nowhere else to go.

You come home and say “mama bhook lag rahi hai khane mein kya hai” only to realize she is not here.

You can buy whatever you want but you don’t have a father whom you can tell “i want this dad can we please buy this” only to realize he isn’t here to fulfill your wishes. You used to wait for his arrival everyday, you still do but the only difference is he never came back.

You had siblings you would annoy, steal their food from the fridge, laugh with them fight with them but now their memories and pictures are left.

All you have are their pictures and memories and their final words “time pe khana kha lena aur ache se parhna”

I will probably delete this but may Allah bless y’alls families and give them a long and healthy life.
