Subject: Formal Request for Investigation and Equal Remedial Action – AS Level 9618 & 9609 Dear Cambridge International,
I am writing to formally follow up regarding concerns about alleged paper leaks affecting AS Level Computer Science (9618 Paper 1, Variant 12) and AS Level Business Studies (9609 Paper 1 Variant 12).
While we acknowledge that action has been taken in relation to other affected components, no clear communication has been issued regarding equivalent measures for the above-mentioned papers. This inconsistency has caused significant concern among candidates who sat these examinations honestly and in good faith.
If any portion of the 9618/12 or 9609/12 papers has been compromised prior to the examination, we respectfully request that appropriate and proportionate action be taken to ensure fairness. We understand the importance of maintaining exam integrity; however, we also hope that remedial decisions will be applied consistently across all affected subjects.
In particular, we kindly request:
A formal update on the status of investigations into 9618/12 and 9609/12.
Confirmation of whether these papers are being reviewed for similar remedial action as taken in other subjects.
Consideration of solutions such as question nullification, threshold adjustments, or controlled rescheduling.
Clear communication to candidates to ensure transparency and avoid uncertainty.
Many students invested substantial time and effort preparing for these examinations under the assumption of fairness and equal conditions. Consistent and transparent action across all affected components is essential to maintaining confidence in the examination system.
Furthermore, we respectfully request clarification on the following points to better understand the integrity measures in place:
- Have formal investigations in previous years resulted in confirmed identification of the source(s) of any examination leaks? If so, what general corrective actions were taken?
- In cases where misconduct was proven, were any individuals found responsible? What disciplinary measures or penalties were applied in accordance with policy?
- Have any schools, centres, or institutions been identified as sources of leaked examination material? If so, what accountability measures were implemented (for example, warnings, sanctions, suspension, or blacklisting)?
- What structural safeguards are currently in place to prevent repeated occurrences of examination leaks, and how are these measures reviewed and improved annually?
- Given the seriousness of the impact on candidates, could you please outline the accountability framework that governs how incidents of this nature are addressed, and how affected students’ concerns are formally considered?
We respectfully request urgent clarification on this matter.
Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to your response.
Yours faithfully,
CIE Candidate
