Is it too late to get into unity dev?

Web developer here, been freelancing for 10 years until I realized its getting harder and harder to get clients with AI and high competition soI move to a more senior role.

However that itch to create something never goes away. I lately gained an interest in game dev, but wasn’t sure if its worth learning and getting into it or if the space was already saturated as with everything else.

Would like to know your opinion on the matter. Thanks!

EDIT: I am interested in this as I would like to build side projects and not actually replace my main job. Ideally build games or apps that I can eventually monetize in an ideal scenario hoping for couple of thousands extra per month a few years down the line.

Merci d'avance !

Solo dev burnout fix: I’m only allowed to build dumb ideas now

After 10+ years in the field, I kept gravitating toward “the next million dollar idea” or some complex project I could turn into a business. It completely sucked the fun out of building.

So I made a rule for myself: only build dumb ideas. No revenue expectations, no business mindset, just stuff I hope people use. If something takes off, great, I’ll figure out monetization later. If not, I kill it and move on.

First one is live: a problem I genuinely run into is having people over and nobody can agree on what food to order or what movie to watch. So I built a tiny tool that solves exactly that : group voting, real-time results, no accounts.

Link is above. Curious if this is something you’d actually use, and what you’d change. Open to all feedback.
