M21/F19 Girlfriend upset over comments from my year end college post and I don’t know how to handle it
My girlfriend and I been dating for 1 and 1 half year. My gf is upset because I made an end-of-year college post saying I was grateful for everyone I met during my first year. Some seniors (some are females) from my cultural student organization commented supportive things like emojis and “loveeee,” and she reacted negatively and is now giving me the silent treatment.
For context, I’m an international student studying far away from home, and joining communities/clubs has been one of the main ways I’ve avoided feeling isolated, or depressed . Everyone in the organization knows I have a girlfriend, and I openly talk about her. I’m not flirting with anyone or trying to seek attention.
I feel confused because I don’t know how to balance being a respectful boyfriend while also having a healthy social life and community. I can’t realistically avoid interacting with women completely because clubs/classes naturally include all genders, and I can’t control who comments on my posts either.
How would you handle this situation? Am I missing something here?
