How long did it take to make your first dollar online, and what mistakes did you fix along the way?

Hey everyone,

I want to open up a discussion about the actual timeline and reality of building an online income (whether through CPA, affiliate marketing, freelancing, or e-commerce). We often see the final results, but the early grind is where the real lessons are.

Whether you are a seasoned veteran or currently pushing through the initial phases, I’d love to hear your insights on these three questions:

How long did it take you to earn your first payout/dollar? Was it a matter of weeks, months, or over a year?

What major mistakes were you making initially, and how did you correct them over time? (e.g., chasing too many strategies at once, poor traffic targeting, lack of consistency, etc.)

What is your current goal right now? On the flip side, if you are still grinding to make that very first dollar, what do you feel is currently holding you back?

Let’s get some honest experiences in the comments to give a realistic perspective to everyone navigating this path.

Looking forward to reading your stories.

Tip for posting: This format works best in subreddits dedicated to digital business or side hustles. It's direct, encourages high-value responses, and avoids looking like spam or self-promotion.

CPA Offers vs. High-Ticket Affiliate Marketing: Which is actually better for a beginner trying to work from home

What’s up guys,

I see a huge debate between starting with CPA (low barrier, low payout) vs. traditional affiliate marketing (higher barrier, bigger commissions).

Here is my perspective: CPA seems way easier to convert because people just need to enter an email or download an app—no credit card required. But the downside is you need massive volume to make a living. Affiliate marketing requires real copywriting and trust, but one high-ticket sale can make your week.

If you were starting from absolute scratch today with zero experience, which route would you take to make your first $1,000 online? For the veterans here, what was the turning point that made you stick to one over the other?

Give yourself 30 days to learn ONE high-income skill.

I used to think making money online was only for people with experience, expensive laptops, or huge audiences.

But after spending months learning about digital marketing and online business, I realized most people start with almost nothing.

Just a phone.

Internet access.

And consistency.

What surprised me most is how many free resources and beginner-friendly opportunities exist today.

I’m still learning every day, but honestly… learning digital skills feels more valuable now than ever before.

A lot of people spend years waiting for the “perfect moment” to start.

I did the same.

But starting before feeling ready was probably the best decision I made.

Has anyone else here started learning online skills recently?

Would love to hear what you’re learning.
