First Timer Advice and Tips

Hi all, Got my first fish Ares, and got this set up.

I decided on Ares after setting the tank. Just want to make sure he is okay, keeps glass surfing and just wondering if there is anything I can do to help him out. But I am unsure if stress as only had for two days, but he's so cool he needs the best life with me. Also he keeps staying suctioned to the filter, he can easily get off and it may be just resting after looking online but, I don't want his fins to decay with this, as I read with this male fighter fish it's a possibility.

Also any advice or tips to ensure he stays top health that would be hugely appreciated. Any good food tips or decorations, he seems to like to sleep in his house so I wanna keep that for him and upon advice and research they like to sit on things. But if a different gravel would be advised or anything, please let me know.

Edit: guys you're awesome, thanks so much for the advice. Getting this sorted tonight for him. Just one big question which I wanna make sure I do correctly,

When re-scaping with Fluuval substrate and sand, taking out the plastic crap and placing the live plants in. Can someone break it down on how to do so? I take it I place Ares in a bag of his current water whilst I do it? And I guess I leave the water in and just do it all manually? Like essentially scoop the gravel? If I'm wrong just absolutely bully me (some of you are anyway, carry on take your days out on me lol) and place the plant on? Would putting my hand and stuff be bad for the water, obviously I would test before placing him back in but, obviously I want to make sure I do this right
