What were your kids’ first words?

My toddler is 15 mo and doesn’t speak many words, but has been picking up a few ASL signs pretty quickly! He uses all done, more, and please really regularly and in the correct contexts. It’s so exciting to see him learning to communicate! And decreases his whining and my frustration lol. He also knows milk, up, down, and eat when prompted (like when he’s whining at my feet and I say “oh, you want up?” he signs up.) I’ve taken one ASL class but absolutely am not fluent and we only speak English at home, so rather than just picking up words naturally, the signs he knows were taught deliberately. Please give me ideas of what words your kids spoke early so I can try to teach those signs! Bonus points for a focus on functional communication. What words or signs did your kids first use?
