Happily married with kids…yet you’re always liking posts about disliking parenthood

There are a few of my friends that always post about their happy marriage and happy parenthood. How much their husbands and babies fill their lives, etc.

So, An enormous part of my algorithm is about childfree and women’s rights and even how unbalanced the responsibility of mothers versus fathers is. There are a number of posts that come up on my feed or fyp where I see that those same “happily married and happily a mother” people are liking those posts. Maybe they figure nobody they know is gonna see that they have liked it. It’s always so interesting and always a reminder that not everything you see online is true. Those happy pictures they post of their families aren’t always the truth.

I lost followers after reposting about not saying congrats anymore to pregnancy announcements

A few weeks ago I saw a post on social media of a girl saying she was tired of pretending to be happy about people who get pregnant again, even though they obviously aren’t even parenting their first child in the first place and/or are financially unstable. And that instead of saying congratulations, she wants to simply respond with “why?” Like why on earth are you bringing another child into this world that you cannot handle financially, emotionally, physically, mentally, etc. That people just have kids just to have them and they don’t think about the negative effects these decisions have on their kids. And that it’s selfish.

Dude. I lost 4 followers within the next 24 hours lmao. I’m absolutely not one to be obsessed with the number of my followers at all. I simply noticed the number had changed from what I usually see it as. And it doesn’t bother me of course. It’s just hilarious how so many people refuse to acknowledge the realities of bringing kids into a world and how taboo it is to call parents out when they do shit like that.

ETA this is just a personal social media. So it’s all just people that I know
