Seeking recommendations for an October vacation.

Hi everyone! I am thinking of going to a Caribbean island around the second weekend of October. I would like to go with two others. I’m thinking 4-6 days will be the time we have off.

I know hurricane season will not be over then. Are there islands that are great to go to that time? Please also share itinerary ideas and nice resorts with great food. I’m trying to travel on a budget so any money saving tips are welcome. TIA!

32F 🇸🇴 | Looking for My Person

I’ve never been very good at talking about myself, but I’ll try.

Gender: Female
Height: 5’3
Age: 32
Build: Slim
Hijab: Yes
Location: US
Willing to Relocate: Yes
Nationality: American
Ethnicity: Somali
Occupation: Healthcare professional
Languages spoken: English, Somali
Marital status: Single, never married

I think those closest to me would say I’m easygoing and down-to-earth. I find joy in the little things in life. A quiet night at home baking, reading or watching an Islamic lecture, walking trails and hiking, sitting by the beach and thinking about life and what my purpose is, or traveling to places that make me stop and think about the greatness of Allah (SWT). I’ve also come to really appreciate regularly reading and contemplating the Qur’an.

I like to live simply and take care of my health. I work in the integrative medicine space, so I naturally have a big interest in health and holistic healing. I’m generally on the quieter side, but when the topic of deen or health comes up, I suddenly have a lot to say. 😅 I really enjoy being around people who remind me of Allah (SWT).

I value motherhood and truly look forward to raising children who are confident in themselves and in their deen, in shaa Allah. I also hope to raise my children in a Muslim-majority country one day. With the level of fitnah we’re seeing in the West, I would love for them to grow up somewhere where the masjid is a short walk away, where hijab can be worn with peace of mind, and where Islamic knowledge is more accessible. I don’t mind temporarily relocating to another Western country if that’s what makes sense for us while we work toward eventually moving to a Muslim country.

At the end of the day, I’m looking for someone to do life with. A best friend, a supporter, and someone to walk towards Jannah with me. I want a marriage where we can lean on each other, grow together, and make life a little easier for one another.

If you’re a practicing, educated, family-
oriented, health-conscious Somali man (29–40) who is ready to build something lasting, I’d love to connect, in shaa Allah.

I heard there were people who got married after consistent istighfar

Assalamu alaikum everyone! I am part of a women’s only group that encourages each member to make consistent istighfar. I am very inspired by the stories shared there. Stories of relief after financial hardship, marriage after years of searching, pregnancy after infertility, healing from illness, but above all stories of transformed hearts and renewed trust in Allah (SWT).

Here are verses from Surah Nūḥ that I’ve been thinking about lately:

فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا ۝
يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا ۝
وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَارًا

“I said, ‘Ask your Lord for forgiveness. Indeed, He is ever-Forgiving. He will send down upon you abundant rain, and He will support you with wealth and children, and provide you with gardens and rivers.”
— Qur’an 71:10–12

Sometimes we focus so much on trying to make things happen that we forget the simple act of istighfar.
These verses are such a beautiful reminder that seeking Allah’s forgiveness can be a means of barakah and relief we may not even expect.

أستغفر الله وأتوب إليه 🤍

Have any of you had a du’a answered after abundant istighfar?
