[Java] Game Pass expired, bought full game on same Microsoft account, but launcher is forcing "Pick a New Name" loop. How to link back to my original name?
My Ultimate Game Pass subscription recently expired. I had a clean Java profile name on it that I want to keep. I just went ahead and purchased the permanent full retail license of Minecraft Java Edition on the exact same Microsoft account.
The problem is, when I open the official Minecraft Launcher and hit "Play," it doesn't load my old profile. Instead, it forces me into a "Pick a New Profile Name" loop.
If I type my old username into the box, it says "Name Taken" (presumably because it's still locked to my account's original UUID backend data).
I am 100% sure I am using the correct email/Microsoft account.
When I try on the official Minecraft website, it forces the exact same new profile name setup screen.
Is there a way to get back my old username? If I give up and type a random name into that box just to pass the screen, will my old name enter the standard 37 day Mojang hold queue, or is it handled differently?
