Throughout Lookism, from the beginning up to the Shiro Oni arc, I didn't get the fans of Elite. Charles seemed boring to me. His subordinates; Gun, Goo, and James, were a thousand times more interesting, and they were the ones always in the thick of the action. All Charles really had going for him was a couple of panels showing the aura of his prime, and that was it. He lacked substance for me.

But then came the scene where he was begging Gun at the juvie. I thought "Wow, he wouldn't even mind sacrificing his own daughter, what a lowlife". For the first time, I found him interesting.

He had a mutually beneficial arrangement with Gun, yet at the end of HFG, he left Gun to rot in prison, despite Gun having helped him for years, simply because he no longer needed him for his plan; after all, Charles had "died" and would almost certainly be operating using his second body or whatever he has now.

And now we see him for who he really is. He was a pathetic guy, wealthy, yet acting like the Yamazaki clan's lapdog, convinced he couldn't change anything until he met Gapryong. We even know he’s going to betray Gap for the Yamazaki, likely because after what we’ve seen in these recent episodes, he didn't believe victory was possible. He’s a self-serving opportunist who cares only about himself; a personal failure willing to do anything, completely devoid of dignity. He aided in Gapryong's murder for his own interests, possibly to curry favor with Gibok and act as his lackey until he got something out of it, and killed Bakhu Noh, the man who had once saved his life.

And you know what? I love it. James is mysterious, building his political power through alliances and plots. Gitae is ruthless, bloodthirsty, and a cartel leader who is intelligent yet impulsive. But Charles, while also intelligent, is far more amoral; he doesn't care about stooping low or sacrificing anyone. He cares only about his own gain, even if it means becoming the most ruthless, unscrupulous, and pathetic person in the world, and that is very, very interesting.

I finally caught up with this manhwa, and I have to say I really liked it.

From what I can see, the latest free chapter on the English Webtoon is Chapter 59, "The Frog and the Scorpion 1.", and the paid/coins version goes up to chapter 65. I'm glad to see the English translation isn't too far off from the original Korean version (which is up to chapter 66, the end of Part/Season 1; I assume there will be a hiatus of a few weeks/months).

But as I was saying, I won't spoil how the season ends, though it left me wanting more. And the plot twist regarding Huiseo really impressed me. That twist, and the situation with her mother reminded me a lot of the manhwa "Like Mother, Like Daughter" and the twist at the end of its 2nd season.

I’m dying to know what will happen in the future. I hope Jin and Geonyeong reunite; I can't bear to see them suffer anymore!!!

When the guy showed up, he just got completely outclassed by Daniel. If I recall correctly, he used some mastery, so he isn't weak, but obviously we've seen that he isn't on the level for the current storyline.

Based on his clothing and build, one could theorize that he was the guy James was talking to on the phone, someone James collaborates with, and with whom he seemed to share common interests regarding Gapryong's death. The silhouette of the so-called "potential final boss".

There was also the possibility that the silhouette was the politician who met with James at the end of Busan, although, judging by his build, it looked a bit more like the King of Tongyeong, Haeshik Won.

Well, as I was saying, I personally wouldn't mind if PTJ created another sort of Eugene ((In the sense of someone who is very weak compared to the rest but equally important due to their intelligence, connections, or whatever else.)) However, the character was left in such a bad state after the beating Daniel gave him that no one really expected him to do anything other than serve as a random king, just so another city in Korea could have one.

And that was the end of it, right? The guy was just more fodder to showcase another King, nothing more... until I saw a post showing official chibi art by PTJ featuring various characters, likely for a new event, like the Splash Busan or VVIPS one, but this time with an Incheon theme.

That artwork featured characters from the current Gen 0 arc, everyone except one: Haeshik Won. I have to admit, I’m not sure if PTJ released the image exactly like that or if a fan compiled it all into one (if it’s the latter, it kind of undermines my post, though the main point still stands). I mean, why include just that guy, who let’s remember, is Gen 1, alongside the Gen 0 SDs? Especially when that king is supposedly just a random character. Why even waste an artwork for him instead of including Mujin, Shingen, Miss Kim or someone else who would fit better? It strikes me as suspicious. I believe the King of Tongyeong will reappear and surprise us.

(Other thing, from the little I saw online, Tongyeong isn't a particularly special city in Korea. It’s neither big like Busan or Incheon nor important like Seoul or the like... In fact, I think it’s even smaller than Ansan.)

Lookism arcs (at least lately) usually last between 19 and 23 chapters, and this arc will be no different; I don't think it would deviate from the norm without a reason.

It is moving a bit fast, sure, but that's because there's a lot to cover, plus, you have to keep in mind that the fights usually last at least one episode each (at least the important ones).

Furthermore, given that the arc is named after Gapryong Kim, it likely won't delve into more personal matters regarding Shingen just yet, that will happen in a different arc. Moreover, the arc will probably conclude not with the defeat of the Yamazaki, but with Gap's death.

My guess is that this arc will last approximately 20 to 25 chapters.

I won't deny that I traced the hair. I got rusty after years of not drawing. I used to be great at drawing dragon ball characters

At first it was implied that Charles killed Gyeol's brother, but perhaps he let him live in exchange for Gyeol's help? Or perhaps there's something more?

Do you think we'll see another character who can do that in the future? Maybe Elite with his speed? Or Gun with his strength? Or is it something that only Goatcheon has achieved? For now, there's nothing to indicate that another character can do the same with a mastery.
