If bro is just resting and "negged" Tom Lee , then why is his body is sunk deep into the destruction??

Also, what I don’t understand is that he was clearly in a better state in the last chapter than he is in this one. So does this mean Tom Lee’s attack still landed? Because it doesn’t make sense and we clearly saw Tom miss the attack.
