Blackbeard wins against akainu and it's not debatable.

For starters, let's look at Blackbeards feats.

Fruitless Blackbeard scarred shanks roughly 14 years ago.

Shanks at the time, already had acoc,divine departure etc etc. His duels with mihawk were considered memorable to whitebeard.

Would a duel among YC3 level characters be in whitebeard's memory for years?

Shanks had been using acoc for years up to that point. Even just learning it massively boosted Luffy's strength in wano.

Zoro without being aware of using acoc beat a YC1 in king.

So shanks,who had been using acoc for years,had divine departure(which no other roger pirate could mimic btw) and had duels that'd stay in whitebeard's memory for years,would obviously be strong as fuck.

Shanks was already 24 at that time. And he's an insane haki prodigy. His growth rate would be much higher than normal.

Taking all this into account,the version of shanks that Blackbeard scarred should be YC+ bare minimum.

That is an insane feat. Blackbeard didn't have any of his fruits yet. Fruitless Blackbeard was already YC+.

After he gets the darkness logia,he low diffed ace on top. He took basically no damage and nearly one shot Ace(breaking his neck). Darkness fruit Blackbeard is easily peak YC+ or low admiral.

All that considered,Quake+Darkness fruit Blackbeard should be firmly admiral tier. The quake fruit is a massive buff.

His performance at marineford can be excused since he had nearly gotten killed by Blackbeard and also magellan beforehand.

But he was still confident in clashing with sengoku,though that was probably just his power drunkness at the moment. It still says something.

Him fleeing from akainu doesn't mean much. That version of Blackbeard wasn't a yonko and he wasn't ready for akainu yet. He grew stronger later.

He also endured Shock Willie from Law while off guard. The same attack that broke big mom's ribs,while his fruit gives extra pain.

In addition,he also beat wang zhi during the timeskip.

Law and kidd were fodder back then,no use talking about them. Blackbeard did the heavy lifting.

Wang Zhi was one of the top dogs of rogers era.

He is featured in the same page as WHITEBEARD,BIG MOM, KAIDO,SHIKI AND ROGER. Which is an insane portrayal.

Blackbeard beat this guy. Though details are unclear,this is still an impressive feat.

Looking at all this, Blackbeard has demonstrated superior durability, endurance and raw physicals.

Akainu's ten day fight with kuzan isn't an endurance feat btw, it's a stamina feat.

What has akainu done thus far?

Fight a dying cancer patient with heart attacks? And get his ass handed to him even then?

That's an exaggeration obviously but heart attack whitebeard with no haki giving akainu trouble isn't a good look.

His other fight involves going extreme diff with kuzan,one of Blackbeards commanders currently.

Speaking of which,

As a yonko, Blackbeard has also received superior portrayal to akainu.

Mainly,Akainu's near equal is one of Blackbeards commanders now.

Kuzan is nigh equal to akainu. They had an extreme diff ten day long fight.

And right now,Kuzan is Blackbeard's underling.

We can definitively say that Blackbeard isn't weaker than kuzan. The captain will OBVIOUSLY be stronger than the subordinate. Bringing up buggy to counter this is pointless, he's a gag character. Genuinely, there's no right hand that is stronger than the captain.

Being superior to Kuzan should also put you above akainu.

Blackbeard has the darkness fruit.

In the Japanese version, Teach describes the fruit's power as "最も凶悪" that, apart from "most evil", it can be translated as the most "vicious", "dangerous", "heinous" or "deadly".

The darkness fruit is the most dangerous fruit out there. And it's built up to be the strongest fruit period. It has superior portrayal to the magma fruit.

The darkness fruit can nullify other devil fruit abilities while Blackbeard is in contact. Which puts Blackbeard is an advantageous position over any devil fruit user. Including akainu,who is primarily a close range fighter(albeit with long range options).

Akainu,and all the admirals for that matter,are more devil fruit centred. We haven't seen any major haki feats from him. We don't even know if he has conquerors or not as of yet. His strength primarily comes from his devil fruit as far as we know.

Akainu without his fruit is much weaker than his normal self. Blackbeard is a nasty matchup for him.

In addition to the darkness fruit, Blackbeard has the tremor fruit. Which is stated to be the strongest paramecia fruit.

With the tremor fruit, Blackbeard has much higher DC and range. It also tremendously buffs his AP and defence.

The tremor fruit's offensive potential with quakes and vibrations is in no way shape or form inferior to the magma fruit. While people parrot the statement that the magma fruit has the strongest offensive power among devil fruits. In the actual vivre card where that statement comes from, it's ambiguous if it's among the strongest or THE strongest. It's simply "in the list of fruits with the highest attack power."

We have seen akainu get fucked up from a dying whitebeard's quake punches.

Blackbeard as a yonko should be above dying whitebeard's level.

And for other miscellaneous arguments that people could use to scale akainu above Blackbeard.

"He has a five billion berri bounty". He doesn't,the position of the fleet admiral does. Fujitora would also have 5 billion berri bounty if he was fleet admiral.

"He would end the story in one year".

Oda was talking about a story telling problem of making the protagonist too strong. Not power scaling. He has done plenty power scaling in the series itself,which takes precedence over secondary sources.

Essentially,go read solo levelling, that's what oda was talking about.

"He is a future Luffy fight." He isn't.

PK Luffy>Blackbeard>kuzan≈akainu. He's getting the blueno treatement if he tries fighting PK Luffy.

It's much more likely he gets beaten before Luffy becomes PK,or that he turncoats and doesn't end up fighting Luffy at all. He's a 55 year old man. He's getting nerfs from now on,not buffs.

Over-all, Blackbeard possesses a great advantage in every category

He has shown better feats.

He has greater portrayal

He has a matchup advantage

He has two of the most busted fruits in the series.

One of Blackbeards underlings is nearly equal to akainu.

He has shown greater endurance with law's shock willie and the fact that his fruit gives him extra pain

He has better range and hax.

Overall, Blackbeard wins this.

We already got teased about old gapryong vs Tom this very chapter. What tf was that about? Only Tom should know realistically.

We still haven't found out tf actually happened to Miss kim.

The plotline about his hand is still unresolved.

And we haven't seen a corpse whereas with Jinyoung,we got his corpse as the final panel. We were just left on a cliffhanger.

I REALLY doubt ptj would offscreen toms death like this. It should be on screen bare minimum.
