Sayeon will look at the two borderline crash out cases and that asshole lawyer and say "Yeah I can work with this".

Isn't chances of Aberrants getting cancer higher?

Cancer is a large group of diseases where body cells grow and divide without stopping. And since aberrants heal faster their chances of getting cancer is significantly higher. Also considering how often they get injured Ryujin's "It won't have time" statement might not be that true. After all healing factor doesn't do much when your own defense system trying to kill you.

Hand Jumper Length?

Has it ever been stated how long this series will be? Is there an estimate for how many seasons will exist till the end?

I think the new story progression is a good thing. (Huge walls of text sorry 😭)

I've been seeing a lot of talk about how the story is "not like Hand Jumper" or that the new characters are good but the story is going downhill. While I do think that some of that is applicable to the current story, I feel like this has been set up for a while and, as much as it feels wrong to say, even with 2 seasons out (almost), the story is still in its introduction. We are just now getting more Godling info. While the idea of them just looming over the narrative as an old story / a failure of past society is amazing, I think that the Godlings have the perfect amount of impact right now. I think the concept of forgetting them = their death is a very impactful way to explain their absence. Only the strongest make it, and as we see with Selume (the actual god of the moon), who can't even remember someone or know the year, they clearly have almost no known way to interact with others. So, it makes sense that only the best of the best with connections to level 10s would be able to speak to the godlings.

Another thing that points towards Hand Jumper still being in its introduction is the fact that most gifts/essence just are NOT understood that well. We know a total of like 20 gifts, and half of the essence types still have a wall of mystery set up. I think the story should be progressing with Godlings and the overpowered villains because that shows exactly what we have been told about the corps, that the hardest part is just surviving. It means a lot more to us when they show how quickly everything can go wrong just from one powerful gift.

Lastly, I believe that we still don't have a true final villain/antagonist, which honestly we don't really need. Currently, we have Officer Ahn, who is Sayeon's main antagonist; the Begonia group (best introduction of them I know of is chapter 76), who are in control? of a Godling; Vorago who is seemingly the one trying to communicate with Sayeon (also without a known relic which seems strange compared to everyone else); and lastly, the Corps / Crimson Society / Sea Wolves which while all are threats to Sayeon none of them have really shown off the intentions needed for the "big bad" of the story. I think that we might not have a main villain based on how the story is right now. Instead, I think that it will just be a bunch of separate hurdles for Sayeon to overcome and not something that truly is the end of her story. ( We also have to remember that no matter what she loses. Society is against her and she has no reasonable way of fixing that.)

Thank you for reading all of this 💖 (or not lol). It means a lot to me as I don't really have anyone to talk to about stuff that interests me. Also if anyone notices anything wrong with what I said, please tell me. I am reading consistently, but I have diagnosed memory issues, so I hope I'm not missing anything major lol.

Hot take (I think)

I really love the new artstyle and new characters (Wolhye and others). I think objectively speaking, in terms of skill, the new style is definitely an improvement and would be so amazing for a fantasy setting, but I think the cleaner, less sketchy or artsy style fits the webtoon better. I guess for me a cleaner style fits with Sayeon's character better (since it's her story and from her point of view).

Also I'm not sure about the new Godling lore drops because they feel kind of inconsistent with the rest of the story's psychological, action-focused atmosphere. The new artstyle seems to also tie in well with these new parts, which makes me think they will increase in number in the future.

Overall, I'm kind of scared about how the webtoon's going to develop, since this is usually where other webtoons go astray (at least for me), but I have faith in the author's skill, given how brilliant they've been so far.

Season 2 Finale

With the recent announcement of the next chapter being Season 2 Finale, I'm sure fans of the rest of these top 10 thriller works are happy that Hand Jumper will stop dominating the #1 ranking every week for Thriller now 🙏

The problem with the gift of Butcher / Jiwook

With the manipulation of essence, the gift is the manifestation of an Aberrant's power.

Each essence color has his particularity. But my concern is more about the green essence.

So far, (ep.129), we have really see 4 gifts from green essence : Butcher (Jiwook) with this explosive slash, Min Woo (White) with his blade, Miyeon Sang with this hand, and Rarog with this wing. (The member of Juni cell when she was trainee doesn't count because we don't know exactly what her gift was...).

Like said Iseul in the capter 32 (season 1, round two) :

the green essence is tangible and augments the user's body.

While the wing, the armor/extendable hand, and the blade are understandable within this definition, the explosive slash is more intriguing.

Indeed, as we see in Chapters 1 and 15, Butcher can freely manipulate his blade, just like Min does during his fight against Auclair (Chapters 126 and 127).

But he can also create explosions! Like Gyeon's clan! Or at least something similar. Is that normal for you?

I have a theory about it.

We know that essence is hereditary (Gyeon's clan, Iseul's father and himself, Ryujin and her mother, Sara, Samin and Sayeon, etc.).

But in these three cases, we can say for sure that the parent who passed the essence and the gift on to their descendant either had an incredible amount of essence (Gyeon's grandfather was level 10, like Sara) or, more significantly, had much more essence than the other parent (Iseul's mother is a “normal” person).

But what happens when both parents have the same amount of essence?

For me, this could result in a more versatile gift. Jiwook, for example, might have a gift that lies somewhere between green essence (with the blade) and the explosive properties that are more characteristic of orange essence.

Even if the explosive slash is actually normal for green essence, I still think this theory is quite plausible.

In Hunter x Hunter, for example, there are Nen users who fall somewhere between two Nen types. So why not in Hand Jumper?

Thank you for your thoughts! ;-)

Random question but is Sayeon going to be able to get rid of vorago’s scar the she carved into her arm?

Like min and ryujin both have big ass scars that they can’t regenerate bc they’re scars, is sayeon just stuck with that big ass mark on her arm now?

Did they explore each others bodies?

There really is no heterosexual explanation for what Wolhye says and feels over Sara, that's for sure. But this whole beach ep got me seeing their relationship as more than a one sided crush. What do y'all think

I'm kinda done with the godling lore

The mythology is overpowering and it was never essential to Hand Jumper's thesis in the first place. If you're not a fastpass reader, you might not agree. I initially thought that the godlings would be a great way to explore Sayeon's own god complex, but it's shaping up to be just a world-building construct in a world that is already built enough.

I think HJ is trying to use godlings to talk about what the value of "humanity" really is and why perfect beings still desire the imperfections of humanity. However, you don't need to borrow the idea of selling your soul to the devil to do this.

HJ has already done it in a much more unique and natural way: through Sayeon, who has already lost a lot of her humanity in her quest for perfection after being given the power to achieve it (time reversal). For example, she rewinds just to have a perfect conversation, only to discover that she's lost the whole point of having a conversation (building genuine connections) and further isolating herself from the people around her.

HJ's beating heart is an exploration of ambiguity in morality, on a personal level with Sayeon's psychological collapse and ability to rewind time, and on a bigger scale with the idea that the oppressed class is manipulated to be complicit in social institutions that perpetuate violence and hierarchy. Godlings don't really add to that.

In my opinion, the best move is to expand the story vertically instead of laterally. It could use less new ideas and more depth in the ideas that were already developed.

It’s hilarious to me how juni calls sayeon neurotic when she’s also insanely neurotic 😭

They were both top of their class, cell leaders, neurotic too juni just does a better job of masking it and we’ll probably be getting the one eye parallel soon too if FP is anything to go by.

Sara and Samin obviously have the same gift as Sayeon

I've seen a lot of debate about what Sara and Samin's gifts are but it's pretty clear that gifts, not just essence colors, are hereditary. Taeho Gyeon's entire family has the same gift, including his grandfather, father, and the twins. Ryujin has the same gift as her mom. Iseul has the same gift as his dad, who was shown floating him in the air in one panel. The current leader of the Concordat has the same gift as his ancestor: talking to birds. Every single character who have aberrant parents with known gifts has the same gift.

From a storytelling perspective, it's possible that Sarah and Samin have certain quirks in their rewind gifts that set them apart from Sayeon/make it worth keeping them a secret. Rewinding time is an interesting concept and there could be several different ways to explore it. I'm assuming that Sara and Samin might be able to rewind further back since Sara mentioned that she misremembered the date once.

Edit: Hey guys. Being able to predict the future and being able to rewind time are not as different as you think they are.

The image of senior officers in the corps.

I believe there is corps propaganda in the HJ universe.

As a reader, I believed that the senior officers of the corps are untouchable. However, that changed significantly when I saw the fight between Min and Wolhye. That made me wonder whether he could fight against Officer Sang as well.

>!Ishaan has mentioned that Wolhye is a level 9,!< and so is Officer Sang.

The same sentiment goes for Aera Son.

See, I do think that she was a legendary person in the corps' history, but am I the only one who thinks that she is painted too much as a freedom fighter/warrior? Identical to those in our history textbooks?

Why are we idolising this person?

Am I the only one who believes that Sara Lee is the one who has shown more power... but silent power and promises in her legacy?

She is the ghost that haunts our narrative. She is almost erased amongst the minds of the cast, almost.

>!Wolhye's and Sara's interactions!< give her more mystique.

Wolhye's and Min fight broke made me understand that the higher-ups of the corps are too good at playing the "big bark" posters, but ultimately they are not impressing me.

I said it. I'm not impressed by them. 🤷🏻

The only person I'm interested in seeing in the future from the corps is the other Level 10, who called out Han's secrecy of hiding the Godling reports.
