IWHAT TEAL ESSENCE ACRUALLY DOES and what Samin gift is

I was rereading and started wondering what TEAL actually does because so far we're basically told it's random.

But what if it isn't? What if it gives you a power based on what you want the most? Like your actual deepest desire even if you don't consciously realize it.

Think about Sayeon. Even before getting her power she's constantly regretting things and wanting to change what happened. So what does she get? The ability to go back and try again. Sleepacross even described her gift as both ideally suited to her and the cruelest power she could have received, specifically mentioning her perfectionism. And then there's the godling asking what she REALLY wants, not accepting her whole world peace answer.

But it's not just her. The dude Sang mentioned who could put his mind into someone else's body? What if he hated being himself and desperately wanted to be someone else? The one who talked to birds, maybe he was a lonely kid whose closest connection was his pet and he just wanted to talk to it. Obviously I'm making up possible backstories here but you get what I mean. Even Vigenere's Circle of Secrecy could come from wanting privacy or wanting to keep something safe and hidden.

The powers look unrelated because everyone wants different things. That doesn't mean the thing that gives them those powers is random too.

And that's where Samin comes in. Everyone goes straight to time stop because of Sayeon but the godling literally calls out her obsession with control over herself and everything around her. And there's something else really important about her, she believes love is the most important thing and she loves Sayeon.

So what I think is that Samin can impose her will within a limited space. Like she can make rules and everything inside has to follow them. She decides who can move, what people can do and who the rules aplies to basically "inside this space things happen on MY terms."

To me that fits both things about her she wants control but she also wants Sayeon to be safe, so her gift gives her a space where she can personally decide what happens.

Why a specific area though? Her scene with the godling is what made me think of it. She controls her mental space and treats it as her own dominion. What if her actual gift lets her do something similar in the outside world?

Also look at how they each meet the godling Sayeon has her childhood plush toy and a wishing well, literally a place where you ask for something you can't make happen yourself meanwhile Samin has a throne and treats the place like she owns it lol. Sayeon wishes things could be different, Samin wants to be the one deciding could just be symbolism but I think it fits this theory pretty well.

And Vigenere's Circle of Secrecy already gives us a teal ability that restricts something within an area so that part wouldn't be coming out of nowhere either.

This could even fit the time stop theory people already have. If she decides nothing in her area can move except her, wouldn't that look like time stop to everyone watching? The things people noticed could still be right, just with a different explanation. What looks like stopping time would only be one thing she can do with her gift.

Sayeon wants to go back and change what happened. Samin wants to decide what gets to happen in the first place.

Idk I think teal being based on your deepest desire would make a lot of sense. It would explain why all these powers seem so random while still giving them something in common.

Update on Atlas Addon

Update time. Turns out the fastest way to find bugs in your own tool is to let real people use it. Original post its here

New Stuff

  • Study block - new button on the results page. It unlocks that block's cards, drops them in a deck of their own, and opens it. So you review the 60 cards from the block you just did, instead of feeding them into the 500 already waiting for you. And it's undoable. Hit Finished when you're done and everything goes back temp deck gone, cards you never reached resuspended, cards you actually answered stay in your reviews. There's a preview mode too if you just want to look without touching your scheduling (in case u don´t want them on your timeline just a quick recap)
  • Atlas menu inside Anki now, next to AnKing/AnkiHub. Status, your open sessions, settings. No more digging through Tools → Add-ons.

Fixed:

  • Some of you were finding literally zero cards.** UWorld tags in AnKing come in more than one shape and Atlas only understood one of them. If yours look like `#AK_Step3_v12::#UWorld::12345` (no middle bit) it found nothing and looked broken that's basically all of Step 3, Sorry my bad lol. Works now.
  • Much faster a 40-question results page went from ~17 seconds (sometimes just giving up entirely) to under half a second.
  • Plus smaller stuff: updating the extension no longer breaks your open UWorld tab, and errors stopped claiming "Couldn't reach Anki" when Anki was right there answering.

Needs Anki 2.1.45+.

Thanks a lot for the feedback you guys found a bunch of bugs and threw some genuinely great ideas at me. Still want more though, especially if something's broken on your end. Tell me which exam you have selected and paste one UWorld tag off a card, that's usually enough for me to find it. (I'm still trying to build a proper diagnostic tool into the service worker so you don't have to do that by hand if anyone's built one of these before, DM me, id love to take the help)

UWorld + AnKing Addon: matching cards, resource tags, First Aid/Sketchy images, and an "expected score" — all from the results page.

So instead of doing my actual Anki reviews like a responsible adult, my ADHD decided the real priority was building a tool to make Anki reviews easier.

Three weeks of hyperfocus later i have this:

Atlas — it connects your UWorld results to your AnKing deck so you can stop hunting tags like a raccoon in a dumpster.

The parts I'm actually proud of:

- Opens the matching AnKing cards straight from your UWorld results. Finish a block, hit Missed / Marked / All, and the right cards open in Anki. No copy-pasting tags into the Browser.

- Shows every resource that covers the topic — Sketchy, B&B, Bootcamp, Physeo, First Aid, Pathoma — grouped and linked, so you know where to actually go review it.

- First Aid & Sketchy images on the question itself. Press F or S and they pop up over the question. No 14th tab (u need the v11 images for the first aid tho) guide

- Easy Mode— instead of opening Anki, it unsuspends the matched cards into your reviews with one click. It shows the count and asks first, so you don't accidentally dump 400 cards onto tomorrow-you. (optional its a toggle)

- High Yield Only for when you have 9 minutes and a prayer. ( uses the incredible tag sistem of v12 antking to use only the high yield cards)

- Expected Score (beta) — after a block it estimates how prepared you actually were on the AnKing-covered questions and lists your "you should've gotten this" misses first. (Im still trying to make the math work on this one a little help whould be great)

It's free, runs entirely locally, and it's open source.

Two parts, you need both: a browser extension + a small Anki add-on (the add-on is just the bridge that lets the extension talk to Anki).

- Extension (Chrome/Brave/Edge): https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/atlas/nldpifnmnejhebgajmkfdijgianbahkj

- Anki add-on: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/147357374

- Code + setup: https://github.com/TheEverion/Atlas

Would genuinely love feedback from people who live in UWorld + AnKing — what's missing, what's annoying, what would make you actually use it.

This Community has given me so much through the years i just wanted to give something back.
