How many asuras can Jagi beat before going down?

As much as I criticize the later half of Hokuto no Ken, I find the concept too great to ignore. There’s that one general who can take out your rib from your body without puncturing your skin.

But I want to talk about the Asuras. According to the book; 1 of them is worth 10 men. So they’re definitely tougher nails to bend than the common thugs from other part one. I won’t be counting the Rashos, because they effortlessly would kill Jagi, that’s not an insult because they would also kill 98% of villains in the first half.

So how many Asuras does it take to beat one Jagi?

A biyearly reminder that Daniel Park is a pervert?

Emphasis on the ‘Bi’ part. This isn’t a slander post.

If you switched the tone of HNK and Riki-Oh, would it be beneficial or detrimental to the story?

I have 14 volumes of HNK, and I recently bought two volumes of Riki-oh. The first two weren’t available at the site, so I had to get volumes 6 and….the number that comes after 6.

A year ago, I read the whole manga on a pirating site. It was really great during the first half of volumes, got a bit strange yet engaging during the the later half, and turned into a complete clusterfuck during the ending. Still I like it, even though it may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

The reason I made this post is because even though Riki-oh is more strange than HNK, I found the setting, atmosphere, and tone more engaging, and that’s not to put down the former. It’s also funny because the artist of Riki-oh is the creator of my fighting manga that has a diet version of Hokuto Shinken. If you know you know.

I wonder if the tone of both manga switched, would they be better or worse?

In spite of the slander, gap is the most unfortunate character so far…

His wife hates him(his fault), his son hates him(also his fault), he got raped, He gets beaten badly by his rival, he failed to become a politician, his disciple becomes a pedophile, his right hand man backstabbed him, he gets killed by his bastard son, and the aforementioned bastard son kills 3/5ths of his children.

Can’t think of anyone else.

Just purchased and read 10 volumes of HNK and so far; here are my thoughts.

Hey, newcomer here.

I first purchased the first volume at the Barnes and noble section of the mall on a hangout with my friend and so far, I was invested. I tried to watch the anime last year, but I stopped on the 3rd episode because I felt it drags on too long. It took reading the manga to keep me interested, now I’m on Vol. 10, 11 and 12 are coming tomorrow, but for now I will speak my mind on my progress so far.

I can barely express how much I love reading this manga, it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions. For better and for worse I always looked forward to more. Enough of chitchat, now onto the commentary:

This story is definitely a product of the 80s and I mean that in the best and worst way possible. Kenshiro will never be boring in my eyes due to how much he changes and in turn, changes the people around him. The onomatopoeia never gets too stale and never makes me bored. And so far; the best character in my eye is Jagi.

The Villains are a hit or miss, some excel the writing to high heights(Raoh and Jagi) while others sometimes reveal the story’s weaknesses(Souther and Shin). Argue that I don’t understand the point, but I’ll laugh at the “My master taught me to be ruthless, so in turn; I must enslave and abuse children”.

Then we have the characters. When read the chapters, I couldn’t tell if some of this was an asspull or if it was planned despite being a weekly manga. For example: Yuria…… no explanation needed.

Outside of the manga, I watched the infamous live action and some of the legends movies(the worst one for me is the character previously mentioned). I would take or leave some of them. Then there’s supposedly a prequel manga, but that’s another story for another post.

All in all, as I mentioned; reading this manga has changed my life, and I can’t wait for more.

What can Lookism learn from other PTJ manhwas?

The reactions towards the recent Lookism chapter has really made me ponder this question in regards to not only this arc, but Lookism as a whole.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that Lookism has been stagnant lately. You have probably heard complaints that “Lookism used to be out school and slice of life drama”, but even I feel those guys aren’t addressing the major issues even when we account for that.

Examples? PTJs writing towards any female not named Sophia, the strange obsession and hypocritical portrayal of SA from both genders, letting morally reprehensible characters(vivi, Mitsuki, etc) off the hook. And so many other things as well. The list of issues can wrap around the sun 20 times.

But the reason this post exists is talk about what can Lookism learn from other manhwas in its shared universe to improve upon itself.

And if you don’t want to limit the manhwas by ptj, the maybe throw reality quest and boxer in the mixture as well.

The art shift of watching other ptj webtoons….

The only other webtoons besides lookism I’ve seen are Manager Kim, Viral Hit, my life as a loser. I won’t talk about the stories because this post is about the whiplash between the difference in styles, well art styles to be specific.

Manager Kim indisputably has the best artwork out of the 3, arguably even better than Lookism(in most cases).

Viral Hit’s style is not too dissimilar to manager kim’s and it’s mostly digestible all the way through.

My life as a Loser’s style isn’t bad but sometimes it feels plastic despite being the most realistic out of the 3.
