Little update on the NES Pi build.

Managed to get the Pi mounted inside the NES and connected up to the switch. Swapped the momentary and power guts over so it all works properly on startup script.

Used a standard keystone plate painted to match for CAT5 HDMI power and 3 usbs

Simple plug-and-play setup and looks pretty OEM once closed up.

Only issue I’ve got at the moment is the shutdown/off script only seems to work if I properly log out of RetroPie first. Power-on works flawlessly every time.

Any Pi gurus got any ideas what I’ve likely missed? 🤔

NES is officially dead. No bringing it back this time sadly time to Retro pie!!! 🪦🎮

So… instead of binning it, I’m thinking of giving it a second life as a Raspberry Pi case for a retro emulation setup. Feels only right the old girl keeps playing games somehow.

Question for the retro crowd though — what controller would you recommend to recreate the original NES feel as closely as possible?

Ideally: • Proper old-school D-pad feel • Minimal input lag • Works well with Raspberry Pi / RetroPie • Bonus points if it feels close to the original brick controller without being horrible to hold for 3 hours 😂

Currently looking at 8BitDo as they seem to get recommended a lot. Anyone got real-world experience or better suggestions?

Also has anyone else done this before ? Any tips or tricks ? I’ll have a lot of spare space in the case to so any add ons you think maybe useful ??

Thanks

Got a compact 4-stage RO/DI setup (sediment, carbon, membrane, DI). It’s been running a while (filters… let’s just say overdue 😬) and now I need to source replacement parts.

From what I can tell it’s all fairly standard 10” housings and 1/4” push fit, but before I start ordering blind:

• Best place for decent replacement kits (UK)? • Any recommended brands (or ones to avoid)? • Worth swapping the membrane at the same time? • Anyone upgraded bits (pressure gauge / pump) and seen a real difference?

Also conscious my waste ratio is rubbish at the moment and I am now On a water meter. Even contemplated tap water!!!!! Dum dum dum 😂 so open to tweaks while I’m at it.

Appreciate any advice
