New Pigeon Owner! - How to know if they're eating and drinking?
Hey all, new to reddit and new to pigeon owning! I've just picked up my bird today (Archangel I believe) and was wondering how to know if they are eating or drinking.
I did as much research as possible but truth be told, google is extremely overwhelming! But I have seen people's Pigeons on here and they all look adorable and lovely.
I'm aware it's their first day and overall she (assumed, I ain't got a clue haha) is rather passive and very inquisitive, looking at my glasses, grooming my beard and happily sitting on my shoulder and in my hands. I saw her briefly peck at food I had in my hand but never truly ate any.
I believe I could just be worrying for no reason but I have had rescues drop for reasons like wounds and sickness and while she has specifically come from a rearer, I still worry! (Especially with the current UK heat!)
I know their is something about their crop and while I know where it is, I don't honestly know how to feel for it or exactly where. Half the images I see are just AI images which put the crop in places where I didn't even think possible.
Outside of this, I'd absolutely love to hear any advice from the more experienced of you!
(Added a picture! I did clean up her feet because she had dried poo that didn't allow her to stand properly, picture is before that ofc :D)
