29 F Trans Homeless NJ
Hi everyone, I’m 29, trans, and facing homelessness this Saturday, August 22. I was a university student, but I can’t afford to continue into the next semester, and I have to leave my dorm by Saturday.
I don’t have family or friends I can stay with.
(If you want to be friends we can try)
I have about $2,000 in savings, a storage unit for my belongings, and a car that has not been repossessed. My license is expired, my credit is 520, I have a lot of debt.
I have a job at the moment at a retail place. But it doesn't pay well. I used to be an electrician and have a certification from trade school. I want to work in the trades again because I can make more money. I have tools and experience and I'm willing to work in any trade, job or field.
I’m trying to find a way to get back on my feet and increase my income. I was considering doing Uber Eats, but my area doesn’t currently give me the option to select bicycle delivery, so I’m not sure if that will work. I’m also looking into other delivery apps and ways to make additional income.
Right now, I’m mainly looking for safe temporary housing or an affordable room while I figure everything else out.
If anyone knows of safe LGBTQ-friendly housing, affordable rooms, emergency assistance, housing programs, delivery apps, or employment resources in New Jersey, I would really appreciate any advice.
I’m willing to work and do whatever I can to get back on my feet. I’m just running out of time and don’t have anywhere to go on Saturday.
Thank you to anyone who can point me toward a resource or offer advice. Feel free to ask me about anything I forgot to add.
I am not looking for a handout or requesting money. Just looking for kind people and advice on how best to tackle this chapter.
