Hex: Dinner Bell

At the start of the trial, a dull totem lights into a hex totem and you gain 1 token.

While this totem is active, whenever a generator is completed, receive a token. Starting a chase with a survivor activates the effects, but this can only be used once per hook state.

When starting a chase:
• The closest pallet and window vault are blocked for a minimum of 5 seconds +2 seconds for each token.
• When 6 tokens have been reached, all windows and pallets on the map are permanently blocked until this hex is cleansed.
• If the closest pallet to the start of the chase has been dropped before the chase started, the pallet is instead broken once the chase starts.

Need help determining edibiliy

Made a post earlier about finding these boletes in the pine forest. Many people are saying Strobilomyces which is definitely true, however I’ve narrowed it down to 2 species.

The majority of the mushrooms I found here are Strobilomyces strobilaceus of varied ages (1-2 prime specimens and 2 more aged ones).
The mushroom in the last picture appears to be Strobilomyces confusus (harder black scales than any of the other specimens)

None of the mushrooms I have appear to be rotting. There isn’t any mold, no bug damage, and they aren’t overly squishy and moist, however, some of them are clearly old.

Any help suggesting which ones to throw out would be great! Personally, I might toss the mushroom slices with the darkest stains and thinnest flesh.

I fell in love with a mushroom (ID wanted)

This is, by far, the most beautifully stunning mushroom I have ever seen in person.

Information:

Found today in the middle of a small North Carolinian Pine Forest.
It hasn’t rained much I don’t think since my last foraging trip last week, and I didn’t spot any of these around then either. It was growing almost directly next to a pine tree.
The black tufts on the cap are almost papery in a way, a lot more tough and rough than the white parts of the cap. The stem is quite hard for a mushroom, I can squeeze decently hard without it splitting. The stem’s black parts create a somewhat rough, almost woodsy texture.
It doesn’t smell like anything really, and one last thing is that the damaged/bruised portions of the pores slowly brown over about 30 seconds to a minute.

The Count (A Series Of Unfortunate Events Chapter)

A random video made me think up some stuff about if Count Olaf became a killer in dead by daylight. POTENTIAL SPOILERS (basing this off the show, not books btw)

Killer Power: World’s Greatest Actor

Costume Change:

• The killer can press their second ability button to activate a costume change. For 30 seconds, with a 30 second cooldown afterwards, the killer becomes undetectable with a lullaby.

Medusoid Mycelium:

• The killer can retrieve one charge of a modified Medusoid Mycelium they can infect a survivor with. To regain this charge, an infected survivor must be downed and hooked, otherwise they must collect another sample after a lengthy cooldown. Infected survivors will stay infected until they ingest the Cure.
• While a survivor is afflicted with the mycelium, their injured noises get progressively louder and generator and healing progress slows the longer a survivor is infected.
• The Medusoid Mycelium spreads similarly to the Plague’s infection. Multiple survivors can be infected by that one charge, and any infected survivor can spread the infection to others by performing actions with them. (The medusoid mycelium is debatable, not sure if I should keep it apart of the killer’s kit).

Arson’s Tool:

• The killer always keeps a box of matches with him. He can throw the matches at survivors, briefly setting them aflame.
• Healthy survivors that are hit by a match become injured and lose a small amount of haste that is usually gotten after being injured. Injured survivors will receive deep wound and won’t gain injured haste at all.
• The killer is mildly slowed down while holding a lit match, throwing the match, and shortly after throwing it. If the killer finishes the throw animation or cancels the move, they return to normal speed after a short delay.

Special Interaction: Esme’s Sugar Bow

• Because of the Entity’s tampering, the sugar from the bowl no longer immunizes people from the fungus, however it does still cure them.
• There is one sugar bowl on the map, spawns randomly. Survivors will only see its aura when they are infected. Eating the sugar slowly undoes the effects of the mycelium and makes it take longer to fully infect you if you come in contact with it again.

Broken Spyglass: Iridescent Addon
• Costume changes transfer the killer’s terror radius to the closest survivor instead of producing a lullaby. The killer can hear this terror radius

Lost Film: Iridescent Addon
• Whenever you see the aura of survivors while they are within 8 meters of the sugar bowl, flames erupt in that range around the sugar bowl. Survivors hit by the flames will be put into deep wound.
• You see the aura of survivors in deep wound for 3 seconds.

Hook Hands of the Hook Handed Man: Uncommon Addon
• While the killer has no charges of medusoid mycelium, the wind up and cooldown of using a match is reduced by 20%

Lucafont’s Mask:
• The killer can instantly down survivors by lighting them on fire with a match. Survivors downed this way cannot be picked up by the killer or healed for 30 seconds. Only 1 match can be thrown per hook state. Hooking a survivor replenishes the charge.

Perks:

Hex: World’s Greatest Actor

• At the start of the trial, a dull totem lights into a hex totem.
• While the hex is active, for each generator being repaired inside the killer’s terror radius, the repair rate is reduced by 10%
• When a generator begins regressing by any means, the killer’s terror radius is increased by 30% for the duration that the generator was regressing.

Scourge Hook: Perfect View
• When a survivor is hooked on a scourge hook, no bubble is formed and no other survivor can see where they are.
• When a survivor is unhooked, they gain the blinded status effect for 60 seconds.

I’m Figuratively Behind You:

• Survivors repairing generators cannot look around and periodically see the killer’s red stain moving behind them as if the killer was behind them.
• If a survivor is grabbed off a generator, that generator is blocked until the survivor is unhooked or wiggles free.

Cosmetic Ideas:

• Various costumes Count Olaf has been shown to put on during the show as well as a potential visceral skin for Esme Squalor.

New Survivors:
• Mr Poe and Justice Strauss maybe?

Cool finds while foraging

I have no idea what the giant yellow thing that leaks brown juice is other than that it’s probably rotten and moldy like some other specimens I found.

3 Amanita species, 1 kind of bolete so far (also rotten), and these weird stemmed and gilled mushrooms that are growing on a rotted log that I usually find Oyster mushrooms on (the long stemmed mushrooms with a ball at the top is, what I’m assuming, is the young version of the mushrooms on the wood. Sadly the mushrooms on the wood other than the babies fell apart in my hand)

Any help identifying would be cool, but I don’t intend on doing anything with these mushrooms, just thought they were super cool.

I do need a different mushroom carrying item, I’m currently using a nice bag but it tends to break mushrooms with long stems or wide caps (as you can see from the red/orange capped species with a volva)

Need Help Identifying

I’ve posted in another subreddit but instead of helping me identify the mushroom and help me learn how to ID this one myself, no one says anything other than don’t eat mushrooms you can’t ID. So, clarity, I’m not eating the mushroom until multiple people agree on a species, teach me how to identify them myself which I’ll cross reference with stuff on foraging channels on YouTube and my mushroom guide.

I literally just want help here and no one has given it to me yet. I want to know what it is since none of the mushrooms I can personally identify with 100% certainty have been growing. This is literally the first kind of mushroom I’ve found all summer.

Info:

Found at the edge of a North Carolinian pine tree forest growing under the plants shown in the last picture. Literally, they were clustered around the stem of the plants. Just had heavy rain for days so thought I’d find some cool things.

Light brownish cap, white stem that’s thicker on the bottom. I can see some webbing/markings that’s slightly off color of the stem, not as noticeable. Definitely a porous mushroom, there are no gills at all. However, the pores are either super small or haven’t opened yet because the surface under the cap is really smooth. No blue stain when cut, I haven’t gotten a spore print yet but idk if I’d get one since there’s no visible pores…

No strong smell, kinda just smells earthy imo. Any other information you need to help me out, you got it.

Worst Singularity Match EVER

Let’s start with the fact that I was more upset with myself than the survivors. I find it cool when survivors are skilled at the game and don’t manage to be toxic about it (The Richter gave me little nods before leaving at the exit gate) but still, I never want to see them again.

To start, I got the Temple of Purgation. Usually that would ruin the match for me as nearly any other killer, but Hux has some good views from his biopods there! I spawned to the side of main outside, slightly opposite of where shack spawns, and made a beeline to shack while placing a few biopods.

I enter shack, quickly place down a pod, slipstream the survivor there. They had an EMP already… instantly used it though and stuck around shack so I managed to do it again. Richter comes up and EMPs everything again. I lose both after due to them managing to avoid view of my pods.

Speed up to after I use all my pain res stacks. Probably about 3 gens left, I know 2 had progress so I hovered between them with my pods. Same routine for close to 10 minutes until I finally couldn’t damage the highest progress gen anymore: Replace biopod, slipstream, injure, I lose them (sprint burst or stealthing ig), walk away to damage gen and replace biopod, which is then EMPed again the second I walk away.

This team at the start prioritized EMPs over the generators, so I was fairly confident I could build pressure before they decided to pop some gens. Which I did, but after 3 gens were done I almost never managed to down anyone. I have NEVER seen a team like this before, I felt like a Xenomorph player experiencing that room full of like 50 flame turrets with how many EMPs they had and how many times they used them. Slipstreaming was a waste of time, while trying to find people in cameras, they sometimes came back and worked on the generator I was sitting near.

Obviously I panicked and lost my cool since I was a basic M1 killer now with no pain res, no ability to use surge, and no stacks of STBFL because Richter (the obsession) kept getting in my face. (I combo it with rapid brutality to get more 2 taps. Works a lot of the time).

Before you tell me, I know it’s just a game, but let me be mad please 😭. I’m also playing regular games and not the event to make it less stressful even though I had an easier time playing against swfs in the event as Hux than this team.

As I said, I’ve never seen anyone use this strategy against a singularity player I’ve watched or have it used against me, so I had no idea how to counter it. I didn’t even realize it could be an effective strategy either since it takes like 30 seconds or something to accelerate printing progress.

I still kind of enjoyed the game, it was very enlightening to my areas that need improvements as Hux. One of which is that all my skill in killer goes down the drain when I start asking why and how the survivors are winning in a ’I’m about to break down rn’ tone. When I first started playing blight against squads like this, whooo weee…

Unfortunately I have no content of the match, I wish I had clipped Richter’s adorable head nod before leaving or the nerves these survivors had with their EMPs and body blocking. If only I had forced penance, they’d have been broken the whole match.

The Boroughs Questions/Talk. Spoilers Ahead

I’ll start by saying that I love this show. There are very few shows that managed to hook me so strongly. However, I feel the second half of the show was somewhat predictable and underwhelming.

My Issues:
• The reveal of mother was strange to me. How was that one creature able to give so much blood to Blaine and his group?

• Why does giving human cerebrospinal fluid to mother make her appear more human? This one is balanced due to the fact that drinking mother’s blood turned Blaine and his group into monsters, but still confusing.

• What in the world was the point of the peach and the murder of crows that flew into the ground? The crow situation was weird since the kids were all caged during the day, except maybe scar but still. The singular peach made for a very strange story line, I honestly began to think the creatures were supposed to be divine protectors of that tree, maybe mother killed the crows to lead what’s-his-name to get the peach.

• I’m not at all upset with the overall plot, despite its predictability. I am just very confused with all the sub-plots that were never wrapped up.

• Why did Blaine’s wife act so violently when eating the pit of the peach? I thought it would be like a ‘take too much and you’ll pay’ kinda thing, where if you get too greedy you turn into a monster, but no. If the peach pit did that to her, why wouldn’t her regular consumption of mother’s blood do the same?

•Blaine had some major plot armor. He and his wife were exposed to the TV particle accelerator the longest, but his wife exploded and he didn’t despite his wife being more far gone.

• What was Hank’s obsession with quartz? And what was with that strange device he used in Renee’s storage room that I don’t think was ever shown again or explained?

Overall, the show is awesome, and the main point of the show is even better. Touching on points of view almost never seen in media, and very entertaining too. I just feel like there’s a lot of plot holes that were either loosely filled or never filled at all, and I would love more context and explanations.

Smells mushroomy, gills extend onto the stems. I don’t think it’s the same species I used to find last fall, but they’re at least very similar in color.
