Hey Reddit. I finally found matching VHS tapes for my LG Netee. Unfortunately, it’s not fully working. It shows the OSD fine, loads and rewinds tapes without issues, but when I press Play there’s no image. Sometimes, right when the tape starts, I can hear audio for about half a second, then it goes silent again. When I stop the tape, the OSD appears normally.

My main theory is that the video/audio signal processor IC, LA71598, is dead. I either need to find a donor VCR and salvage the chip, or order a replacement — but I can’t find the IC anywhere.

If anyone knows of any cheap or common VHS models that use the LA71598, I’d really appreciate the info.
